Since I am a little bit of a shopping addict there’s always some sort of thing that I’m on a hunt for. Sometimes it’s a very specific product from a very specific brand. Other times it’s a little more vague. It’s just about a product type in general. Anyway, there’s always something on my list. In today’s post I’m going to talk to you about the makeup I’m on a hunt for. Whether it’s a vague thing or a more specific thing, I’m going to tell you all about it. If you’re interested in finding out what I’m looking for makeup-wise, make sure you continue reading this post!
A non-silicony primer
For the longest time I’ve been using my beloved Clarins Instant Light Radiance Boosting Complexion Base. I loved it so much that I actually used up the entire tube. I’m definitely going to repurchase that sometime in the near future, but for now I want to try something new. I’m someone who loves their staples, but likes trying out new things as well. The thing that is very important to me is that it doesn’t have that super thick silicony feel. I already have primers like that and I want something else. It has to have more of a lotion kind of feel, just like the Clarins one did.
Since I shop online a lot it can be hard to figure out which primers are more like a lotion and which ones are silicony. Especially when you’re debating on getting a product that isn’t super well-known or just isn’t very popular. So far the two prospects on my list are the Nars Pore Filling Primer and the Chanel Le Blanc. Especially the Nars one sounds really interesting to me since it is pore filling but not super silicony. If you have any other recommendations though, let me know!
A small duo-fibre brush
Next on my list is a more specific thing. I want a small duo-fibre brush. Recently I was watching a Youtube video from a girl named Allana Davidson. She was doing her makeup and to apply her bronzer/contour she used a small stippling/duo-fibre brush. I had never seen someone do that and it looked like the best idea in the world to me. On her face it ended up looking absolutely gorgeous. Of course it’s on camera and it’s with bright lighting and such, so you can’t really tell if it’s really going to look that good in real life. But it seemed like a great tool to apply contour/bronzer with in a light and natural way.
At first I wanted to go for the Zoeva Small Stippling Brush but then I changed my mind. A while ago I was starting to update my brush collection and I wanted to buy better quality brushes. So why go ahead and buy a cheap one that I’ll want to replace very soon anyway. It might be better to just dive in and get the one I wanted all along immediately. So, the one I want to purchase is the MAC 188 Small Duo-Fibre Brush. It looks perfect to me.
A nighttime moisturiser
Another thing I’m on the hunt for isn’t necessarily a makeup product. It’s actually skincare. Anyway. Recently I ran out of the nighttime moisturiser I was using, the Vichy Normaderm Night Detox. It did perform great on my skin and I liked it, but somehow I don’t feel like repurchasing it. I want something different. Something that is going to make my skin feel super hydrated and soft in the morning without being heavy or greasy. I mean I do have oily skin, so it can’t be too extreme.
So far the one I’ve been eyeing is the Philosophy Renewed Hope In A Jar Night, which does seem pretty much perfect to me. I have read mixed reviews on it but well, that can’t stop me. However, I’m not sure if this is really going to be the best for me. So if anyone has any recommendations, please let me know!
The perfect eye-palette
This one is a bit more on the vague side of the spectrum. I obviously have a ton of eyeshadow palettes. That isn’t a surprise to anyone who knows me or who reads my blog. However, I’m really excited to find some sort of new favourite. I mean, I have a lot of favourites and sometimes I do discover a real new favourite. But I mean like a holy grail. A palette I’d actually repurchase. Like the Stila Eyes Are The Window Palette in Soul. I love that palette so much, it’s the one I gravitate towards everyday. The one I use every time I’m out of inspiration. And I want another one like that.
I’m someone who does love to wearing natural shades so it does have to be a rather natural palette. I also love it when a palette has options in it and at least one of every type of shadow. With that I mean like one brow highlight, one lid shade, on blending shade and a crease shade. But preferably a few of everything. So if you have anything you’d recommend, let me know!
Some cream contouring/highlighting products
The last thing I’m on a hunt for is a good liquid/cream contour and highlight product. I’m normally someone who does not do contouring. I’m not good at it and I like to keep things natural. I just don’t think it’s necessary for everyday. However, I do like the look of it when it’s done using very natural products and applied in a natural way. Something using very lightweight liquid products for example.
This one isn’t as vague as the last one, I’m already pretty sure what exact product I want to fulfil this need. It’s the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Contour Wand in Light to Medium and the Charlotte Tilbury Hollywood Beauty Light Wand. I love the formula on these products, or at least the look of them, and I like the way they look applied. It’s exactly what I’m looking for.
With that being said I think I mentioned pretty much all of the things that I’m currently on a hunt for. By the time you’re reading this black Friday is already over, but when I’m writing it black Friday is still one week away. So maybe by now I’ve already purchased some of these items! Stay in touch for my black Friday haul to find out!
Anyway, that’s it for today you guys. I hope you enjoyed reading about my makeup hunts and if you have any recommendations please let me know!
