During the past few years I’ve heard so many good things about this Makeup Forever HD Powder. They claimed it was the perfect loose powder and that it did wonders. When I saw they had a little sample size at Sephora I decided to buy it and give it a try. Today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out if it really is that amazing as people claim it to be, make sure you continue reading!
Let’s start off with discussing the packaging. The packaging this product comes in is professional, sleek and absolutely amazing. I really, really love it. It’s super simple, just black and white, but it just has something to it. I think it matches the brand really well and it’s just my favourite kind of packaging.
The shape of the packaging is really nice as well. At first I wasn’t too sure about that, but now that I’ve been working with it for a while I have grown to like it. Unlike most powders this powder doesn’t have a plastic thingy with small holes in it to determine how much powder comes out. This way the amount of powder that comes out is regulated and my desk won’t become one piece of wood covered in white powder.
On the back of the box Makeup Forever tells us that the products from the HD range are made for an invisible, natural makeup finish. They say that this powder contains micro-particles which give the skin a perfectly, glowingly natural look. According to Makeup Forever this powder has a special formula that creates a velvety look and it’s perfect for all skin types and skin tones. How amazing!
Well, let’s start off with discussing the texture. Makeup Forever claims that it’s very finely milled and that it creates a velvety effect. I have to say that I do agree with what they say. At first, before I gave this powder a try, I was quite sceptical about it. Why would this powder be better than my favourite powder from Vichy? But now that I’ve tried it I get it. First of all the particles are definitely way smaller and finer than the particles of other powders that I’ve tried and this powder just feels way, way better.
The invisible part is semi-true. Because it’s a white, and therefore transparent, powder, it will be nearly invisible once applied. However, if you have darker skin or it you take pictures with flash it might not be that invisible. I’ve actually used it for baking last week and took a picture with flash and well, that didn’t turn out so well. So if you know you’re going to take pictures with flash, I highly recommend not baking with it. Just using it to set your makeup will be no problem, just DON’T bake! DON’T!
When it comes to the finished look of this powder on your skin I’m pretty positive. It does look very natural, it’s matte but not in an unhealthy way and it feels really nice and lightweight. I love it!
Overall I think the Makeup Forever HD Powder is absolutely amazing. It’s actually even better than I expected in the first place. I love how natural and pretty the finish is and the texture of the powder is incredible as well! I really, really like it and I highly recommend giving it a try if you’re on the hunt for a great setting powder!
The Makeup Forever HD Powder is available at Sephora for €33 (8.5 grams) and €15 (4 grams).
