After buying and falling in love with the gorgeous MAC x Mariah Carey Eyeshadow Quad in It’s Everything I decided to just go for it and buy the other palette too. This one is around the internet the most popular one and it’s called I’m That Chick You Like. Today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out how I like it, make sure you continue reading!
First things first: the packaging. I don’t think this will come as a surprise but I absolutely LOVE it! It’s seriously the prettiest MAC collection ever when it comes to packagings and I’m totally obsessed with it. The bottom part of the palette is gold, the lid is clear and the lid is lined with a gorgeous silver glitter. In the middle of the lid they also added Mariah’s signature and the logo and all of those things together make this a gorgeous looking product.
Recently I reviewed the other eyeshadow palette that came out in this collection called It’s Everything. That palette contained more cool-toned eyeshadows. This palette is, in that sense, pretty much the opposite of that. This one is filled with rather warm-toned eyeshadows.
So, let’s take a look at what is inside this palette. Let’s just start off by going through the four shades one by one.
Whenever You Call (VLXP) – This is the highlighty shade of the palette, the lightest colour and therefore perfect for underneath the brow bone, in the inner corner and for on the centre of the eyelid. If you like to go for a softer and more natural look you can also use this shade as an all over colour. That’s obviously totally up to you.
Can’t Escape Me (S) –Â The shade next to that, Can’t Escape Me, is a very pretty satiny medium brown tone. It’s not completely matte but the very fine shimmers it does have to it aren’t bothering me. I actually thinks it makes the eyeshadow look look a bit more fancy.
Golden Petals Scattering (F) –Â This next shade is probably my favourite out of the four. It’s a gorgeous shimmery brown shade. It’s the most gorgeous shimmery shade I’ve seen in a while and I think it would look absolutely stunning when applied all over the eyes. It creates a gorgeous uplifted look and it looks fun and festive.
How You Thrill Me (S) –Â This last shade is called How You Thrill Me and it’s a matte dark brown shade with a purple undertone. This is the perfect shade for defining the crease, darkening up the look and creating a more smokey effect. I’d personally use it on an everyday basis, but if you prefer more natural eyeshadow looks this is perfect for parties or special occasions.
The finishes of the shadows are very diverse. The medium brown shade and the deep brown shade both have a satin finish which means that they’re not completely matte, but they’re very close to being matte. Because of that they are perfect to use in the crease and perfect to use when you want to create a shadow but they aren’t boring.
The yellowy gold shade has a veluxe pearl finish. Veluxe pearl finishes are quite similar to frost eyeshadows by MAC. They’re very shimmery and pretty, but the difference between the two is that the veluxe pearl shadows have a little more metallic shimmer to them than the frost shadows do. It’s also a bit more finely mild shimmer opposed to the chunky shimmers you’ll find in a frost.
The super shimmery brown shade is a frost. Comparing it to the VLXP I think my point is quite clear. This shadow is a lot more chunky when it comes to shimmer but that doesn’t mean it’s less pretty. I think this is a perfect finish to wear when you’re going to a party or just want to look a little more glam.
Pigmentation wise I’m happy. These shadows are intensely pigmented and really smooth to apply. The MAC shadows are honestly one of the most easy shadows to work with and I love that. I know that in the past I have said that MAC shadows weren’t my favourite and that there are better shadows out there, but to be completely honest with you guys: this palette won me over. I love it.
Especially when you combine these shadows with a great eyeshadow base like the Maybelline Color Tattoo’s or the Too Faced Shadow Insurance these shadows will be incredibly intense and insanely longlasting. I’m impressed!
Overall I’m a really, really big fan of this eyeshadow palette. I’m not sure if I love it more than the one called It’s Everything, but quality wise they’re equally amazing. The colours are stunning and the shadows are so easy to work with, I think everybody can rock eyeshadow with them!
