MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Bare Study

25/12/2015

MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot Bare Study

Back in the day, Bare Study was one of the most popular MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pots. I heard so many good things about it back then, but I never really got the chance to give it a try. A while ago I finally decided to order it and give it a shot. Today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out whether or not I ended up loving the MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Bare Study or not, and whether or not I like it as much as the MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Vintage Selection, keep on reading!

MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot Bare Study Packaging

The MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Bare Study comes in a small, heavy glass jar with a black lid. It contains 5 grams of product and is very compact and easy to take with you when you’re travelling. I really like the look of the packaging. I think it looks professional and clean and it’s definitely not cheap looking at all.

The colour Bare Study is, as I mentioned before, quite a popular colour. At least, it was back in the day when I started watching Youtube video’s and doing my own makeup. It’s a very pretty champagny gold colour with a bit of a yellow undertone to it.

Overall I do really like the colour. I think it’s pretty and I think it goes well with pretty much every eye look I will ever create. However, I’m not a huge fan of the yellowy undertone. It’s just not really my thing. Because it’s just a base I don’t mind it too much, but I would have liked it a lot better if it wasn’t as yellow.

The texture of this Paint Pot is a little different from the texture of the one I have in the shade Vintage Selection. It’s a little less creamy and it’s not as easy to apply. I feel like this one doesn’t apply as evenly and I feel like it kind of gathers in some places. When I apply the one in Vintage Selection I can get away with just using my fingers, but when I apply this one I do definitely need a brush to kind of buff it in and I was kind of disappointed by that.

But aside from that, quality wise it’s not much different from the Paint Pot in Vintage Selection. It has the same amount of pigmentation, which is not as intense as the pigmentation of the Maybelline Color Tattoo’s, but pigmented enough to make a difference, and it does help with keeping my eyeshadows in place all day.

But to be honest, do I like this more than the Maybelline Color Tattoo’s or the P2 cream shadows? Do I think it’s worth the 20 Euro’s? No. I honestly feel like the Maybelline Color Tattoo’s are just as amazing, or maybe even better. Those are way more intense, they stay even better and I just like them a slight bit more. The only reason why I prefer the MAC Paint Pots over the Maybelline Color Tattoo’s is because they won’t dry out as quickly.

MAC Paint Pot Bare Study Packaging

So, overall I do like the MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pot in Bare Study, but I’m not in love. I don’t think it’s an essential for cream eyeshadow lovers like I am and I don’t think it’s better than the Maybelline Color Tattoo’s. Quality wise it’s definitely not a bad product, but it’s just not the best.

The MAC Pro Longwear Paint Pots are available at the MAC Counters and online for €20,-.

That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know which MAC Paint Pot is your favourite!

I’ve been trying to decide between getting the maybelline color tattoo or the MAC paint point. The paint pot is more hydrating you say?

Yes the paint pots are a lot more creamy compared to the color tattoos which are rather sticky and dry. I think that if you want to go for intensity and extreme staying power the maybelline ones are better for you but if you’re just looking for a base and if you don’t like the stickiness of the maybelline color tattoos I’d recommend getting the MAC paint pot!

I have been using Soft Ochre for soooo long as an eyeshadow primer. I love paint pots. I feel like my colour tattoos dry out way too fast
