A luxury start kit? What is it? Well in today’s post I want to share some luxury makeup products with you guys I think you should get when you’re starting to build a luxury collection. Obviously you need somewhere to start. In my opinion some products are worth spending more money on more than others. In today’s post I’m not only going to share which product I think should be in your luxury starter kit, I’m also going to talk about specific products I’d recommend. So, if you’re interested in reading about all that, make sure you continue reading this post!
A good foundation saves the day
One product I definitely think is worth the investment is a good foundation that properly matches your skin tone. I think everyone knows the struggle of finding the right shade of foundation. Especially in the drugstore I seem to have a hard time doing that. In addition to that I do think that the luxury counters have more choice in terms of formulas and textures. I know that there are definitely some good foundations in the lower budget category. For me however foundation is just one of the products I like to splurge on. For me the Dior foundations work really well. They were the ones that got me into luxury foundations. Especially their Star foundation and the Nude one. Both of them have a really nice and silky formula. They glide onto the skin and make you look so even and smooth. They also have the prettiest natural finish and have pretty good coverage.
Starting off with skincare
Skincare isn’t necessarily what you would expect to read about in a makeup starter kit. But I do think that it’s essential. If your skin is good, the makeup on top of it will look much, much better. I can write a whole other post about proper skincare and what’s worth investing in. But for now I would recommend going for a moisturiser that really suites your skin type.
Invest in a proper brush, and be happy forever
Moving on to the application proces. I think that investing in high quality brushes is one of the most important things. This is what you’ll end up using everyday to apply your products with. With a proper brush even a less amazing product can look good. In addition to that I think that when you invest in a good brush, you’re investing for a lifetime. Some more affordable brushes definitely lose their shape over time. However, a high quality brush usually stays perfect for years and years to come. So it’s not only an essential to get better performance of your makeup, it’s also an investment.
Brows on fleek
The next item I suggest including in your starters kit is a great brow product. I personally think that there’s a lot of difference in brow-product-quality between luxury and budget makeup. You might not agree, that’s okay, but in my opinion it does. I think that a good brow product needs to have the perfect consistency balance between waxy and firm. It needs to come in exactly the right shade for you and it needs to be easy to work with. After trying a ton of different brow pencils I think the Benefit Goof Proof Brow Pencil in 2 is my holy grail. This is what I found works for me the best and what matches my brows the best. Obviously this does depend on personal preferences, but just invest in a good product. Brows can definitely make or break a look, so don’t save on it if you don’t have to.
Get glowing with highlighter
This item isn’t super, super essential but I do think it’s worth investing in. I’m talking about highlighter. Now, I have tried a lot of amazing highlighters from the drugstore. Still I notice a lot of difference between the more luxurious ones and the cheaper alternatives. The main difference is the shimmer or glow it gives. Most of my more affordable highlighters are a bit chalky and powdery that interferes with the glow it provides. However, my more luxurious highlighters give me a more glowy, chic look. It’s really hard to describe what I’m trying to say, but I hope this does make sense in one way or another. My personal recommendation if you’re going to invest in a highlighter is the Dior Nude Air Luminizer in 001. This is the most stunning piece of makeup I own and it looks great on all skin tones!
Bronzer
The last product I think is worth investing in is bronzer. When I first started getting into luxury makeup I have to admit that I didn’t think bronzer was all that interesting. Until I bought the Chanel Les Beiges Poudre Belle Mine Ensoleillée. This is such a nice product. First of all the texture is amazing. It goes on very evenly and without any effort. But the most important thing for me is that the shade actually looks good on my skintone. I’m very pale so it’s always quite hard for me to find a bronzer that matches me. In the budget section I could never find anything remotely decent, but in the luxury sector there’s a lot more choice. If you do happen to have an easy skintone for bronzers I understand if this is not something you’d want to invest in. But if you’re struggling to find a good match like me, you might want to take a look at this category.
With that being said I think I covered everything I think should be in a proper luxury makeup starters kit. Obviously there’s a lot more worth investing in, but these are in my opinion top priority. Depending on your personal struggles and needs this could be a bit different for you. I hope this post was helpful to you anyway, even if that’s the case.
Anyway, that’s it for today guys. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post and be sure to let me know what you think of my luxury makeup starters-kit and what you’d recommend!
