Luxurious Cheeks: Yves Saint Laurent Blush Volupte

13/10/2018

I can’t remember how long it has been since I first thought about getting or well, wanting to get an YSL blush. It has been absolutely ages. It always seemed like the absolute goal to me. Normally blush isn’t something I’d easily splurge on and even for me the price tag on YSL blushes is pretty darn high. However, recently I figured that I had been working very hard and deserved a nice little treat. And this resulted in me finally buying the long awaited and stunning Yves Saint Laurent Blush Volupte. I’ve been wearing it almost every day since I got it, so today seems like the perfect day for me to review this little guy. So, if you’re interested in finding out what this blush is like and whether or not it is worth the splurge, make sure you continue reading!

The YSL Blush Volupte comes in the most stunning packaging ever. It comes in this rectangular shaped golden compact with a luxurious black cover around it. I do like that it comes with this cover because it keeps the product from looking dirty. Obviously the gold does get some fingerprints on it after using it a couple of times, but I still like to think that the cover protects it from most of the dirt.

On the inside of the packaging is a little mirror, big enough to use to apply your blush with. It’s really handy for on the go, but also when doing your makeup at home and you quickly want to look at things in different lightning. In addition to that it comes with a little brush inside. Sadly this brush isn’t really high quality or at least just really not my cup of tea. Normally I do like to keep an open mind about these kinds of free brushes, but because it’s so slim I don’t think you can get a really pretty natural flush with it. But it is handy if you don’t have a blush brush yet or if you for example forgot to take it with you.

Yves Saint Laurent Blush Volupte – €48,50

The shade I bough it called Passionate. This is a very pretty natural looking blush shade. The outsides of the blush have a nice fresh rosy pink colour and the inside is a bit peachy. I do like the way they made the powder look, like they are bricks put together in a little pan. I also like that the middle part has a different colour because I think this does add some dimension to the blush. It won’t make a huge difference, but it’s still really nice in my opinion. All in all I think it’s a great everyday blush colour. It’s natural, it’s fresh and it will create a really pretty settle look on your complexion. I love it a lot and I’m glad I decided to go for this shade!

Having said that, let’s take a quick look at the claims Yves Saint Laurent has made regarding this blush. According to them this is a radiant and luminous blush with two colours and textures in one. It’s supposed to be a blush and highlighter that provides contouring and achieves a vibrant glow. They say that featuring the ‘colour light prism’ technology, this makeup offers balanced consistency between how the blush looks and the application result. The higher saturation of colour pigments is supposed to offer intense colour payoff and the extra thin particles give a natural and buildable look.

Having read that I do think that it sounds like a wonderful blush. It sounds like they thought really well about the colour thingy, the fact that it comes with two shades instead of one. They also make it sound like it’s going to be really nice to apply, which is always a big plus in my book.

Having tried it myself I can tell you that the claims are true for the most part. Of course things are being exaggerated, but the main things they promise are definitely true. And therefore I’m a huge fan of the product. Looking at pigment I think this blush is great. It does say that it has intense colour payoff, but then again it also said that it will create a natural and buildable look. And that is true. The blush is definitely pigmented enough for a blush and when you apply just one simple coat of it your cheeks will have this really pretty natural flush to them. You can make it more intense by going over it a couple of times, but for me one swipe is enough.

In terms of texture I am mind blown by this product. I’m a really big fan of products that are smooth and easy to blend and this one is exactly that. Maybe you can tell by the picture, but it applies very evenly. You really honestly don’t have to worry about it looking blotchy at all. Swatching it already felt so good. My finger moved so smoothly over my hand, the texture is just so smooth and silky. It’s really luxurious feeling and in addition to that I do think that it translates onto your face. It’s not just the feeling of it that’s really nice, the result is incredibly stunning as well. I know that this blush comes with a price tag, but to be completely honest with you guys, I’d rather have one of these than a million other blushes. It is so amazing!

All in all I think it’s clear that I am a huge fan of the Yves Saint Laurent Blush Volupte. I have been wanting to try a blush from this range for ages now and I’m so glad I finally did it. It’s everything I expected it to be and more and it has definitely become my go-to blush the past couple of weeks. The colour is just so pretty and perfect for everyday wear and the texture of the powder is phenomenal. To me this is definitely worth the price and therefore I would recommend giving it a try if you’re a blush lover or you just want to invest in a good product!

That will be all for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know how you like this stunning YSL blush and whether or not you think it’s worth the splurge!
