The Famous Lush The Comforter Bubble Bar!

26/02/2019

For as long as I can remember ‘The Comforter’ is a well known name in the Lush-beauty-industry. It’s pretty much the first bubble bar I ever knew the name of and it’s the one you hear the most about. Even though it’s such a popular and well-loved product, I’ve only tried it for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Somehow it didn’t really impress me. And that’s not strange, I mean all these limited edition collection Lush releases are very impressive and do make you forget a little bit about the regulars. Long story short: I finally tried out the famous Lush The Comforter Bubble Bar and today I’m going to review it. If you’re interested in finding out how I ended up liking it, make sure you continue reading this post!

The Comforter from Lush is probably one of the biggest and heaviest bubble bars I’ve seen so far. Maybe that’s just because it looks big, the weight it probably similar in most of their bubble bars, but that’s just what I’m thinking right now. The shape of the bubble bar is pretty basic. It’s a kind of rounded thick piece of powder. Within the bubble bar there are two main colours: pink and white. The pink does look a little bit purple on the pictures and it can totally be purple, but to me it’s a pink colour. Anyway.

The way the pattern looks on the bubble bar does differ since these are handmade products. My pattern actually looks like a little heart, which I think is adorable. I’m probably the only one in the world who can see a heart in this bubble bar, but even if it isn’t a heart I think it looks really cute. The pink and white just go together really well and create a really pretty look.

One thing I noticed once I was picking this bubble bar up in store is the fact that there are two very similar bubble bars in their collection. The Brightside Bubble Bar for example, which has the same look but in orange instead of pink. And the Blue Skies And Fluffy White Clouds Bubble Bar which has the same look as well but is blue instead of pink. That’s really darn cute!

Lush The Comforter Bubble Bar – €7,25

Before I’m jumping into anything regarding this bubble bar, let’s first take a look at what Lush has to say about it:

Sometimes you just need to shut yourself off from the outside world under a blanket of fruity foam that will put you back in the right frame of mind to face the world. This bar is supersized, so you’ll only need to crumble half a bar under your tap to make enough bubbles for a long, comforting soak. Cassis absolute gives a distinctive blackcurrant fragrance, while bergamot adds an uplifting note.”

So in these claims Lush does tell us that this is a ‘supersized’ bubble bar and that you don’t need the entire thing for one bath. I might be a bit cheap, but I really don’t ever use an entire bubble bar in one bath. I don’t think that’s necessary. A little bit of these bars usually goes a very long way. With this bar I definitely think you can get a nice effect with about one fourth of the bar. It does obviously depend on the size of your tub and how much bubbles you like to have, but one fourth must definitely be enough for an average sized bath.

In terms of scent this bubble bar is different from what I’m used to so far. Lush as well as a ton of other people say that it smells like cassis and at first I really didn’t get this. But after using it in my tub I get what people are talking about. It’s definitely that old school cassis scent and, to my surprise, I really like that about it.

In terms of ingredients this bubble bar isn’t super interesting. It does have SLS in it as well as perfume. And quite a lot of it. Lower on the list are some oils, but I don’t think that’s going to be enough to counteract the drying effectĀ  of the other ingredients. This did disappoint me a tiny little bit since normally Lush products do leave my skin feeling nice and soft. I know that most other bubble bars have the same drying ingredients, but more often than not they have a bit more to it that’s going to help give you that moisturised feeling and I don’t feel like The Comforter has that. It doesn’t leave my skin feeling nice and hydrated, but on the other hand it doesn’t strip or dry my skin an awful lot either. It just doesn’t do a lot.

Okay, let’s take a look at the bath. I’m sorry for the crappy pictures, but these are taken rather late at night and I was way too tired and lazy to even consider getting my lamp and camera. Anyway, what you can tell from the pictures is the fact that this bubble bar does create a ton of bubbles. It also gives my water a slight pink tint. I do really like both of those effects because I think that’s part of the whole Lush experience. You want these products to do something special and luckily, more often than not, they do.

Like I said this bubble bar definitely has that cassis scent to it. It’s a scent I wouldn’t necessarily think of when describing what scents I like, but I actually did turn out to really like it. It also has some bergamot in it which gives it a more fresh and sweet vibe and I think that’s a great addition to the scent.

In conclusion I do really like The Comforter Bubble Bar from Lush. I like the fact that it’s really big and I’m also a fan of the scent. I do really like the way it looks and the way it acts in my bath. It’s not the most special product when it comes to its effects on my skin, but aside from that I do really like this bubble bar and I’d definitely buy it again whenever I feel the need to buy some more new bubble bars.

With that being said I’m going to end this post. Thank you so much for reading another Lush review, and be sure to let me know which bubble bar from Lush is your absolute favourite!
