A while ago I bought a bunch of goodies at Lush and at some point I didn’t even know what I was buying anymore. One thing I actually totally forgot about is this Lush Sleepy Shower Bomb. Not too long ago Lush came out with these Shower Bombs, which are an alternative for their famous Bath Bombs. These can be used in the shower, so they are great for those who don’t have a bath or don’t like taking a bath. It did seem like a very interesting product to me at first, and since I ended up accidentally buying it, I now got the chance to try it. So that’s what I did. If you’re interested in reading about my experience with this Lush Sleepy Shower Bomb and if you want to know whether or not it’s worth the money, make sure you continue reading this post!
Most products at Lush are actually ‘naked’. This means that it doesn’t come in a packaging, like this Shower Bomb. However, they do put it in a little bag for you when you take it home. If you buy it online though, you will get it without a packaging. Anyway, the Lush Shower Bomb is a tiny little ball made out of powder. There are a couple different versions available and they are all shaped differently. The one I have is called Sleepy and is white. On the bottom of the bomb is says ‘Sleepy’ in purple.
This shower bomb is shaped like, well, what does it look like? It reminds me of a cauliflower. But I guess it might be more of like a cloud or something like that because that has more connections with sleep than a cauliflower does. But well, what does it matter. The white colour does look pretty boring to be honest. Most of the Sleepy products from Lush are purple and I would have preferred that. But since this isn’t going in your bath but just down the drain right after using it, it doesn’t matter that much either.
This Shower Bomb weighs 40 grams. The other ones they have are 35 grams and 45 grams. I do think this is a nice amount of product, especially considering the price. It’s a lot more affordable than their bath bombs.

The Sleepy Shower Bomb smells like the famous Sleepy scent from Lush. This is a scent I’m not super familiar with, but I do really, really like it. It smells like lavender, which does have a very calming effect. Hence the name ‘Sleepy’. I do think that Sleepy is a very universally loved scent. It’s not a very specific scent or one you either love or hate. It’s quite ‘welcoming’. I don’t know if that’s the right term to use here, but it felt right so that’s why I’m just going with it.
Looking at the ingredients of this shower bomb I do think Lush has done a great job again. The main ingredient is Sodium Bicarbonate, which, in combination with Citric Acid, creates bubbles. There’s also some potato starch in here for the fluffy feel and the cream of tartar in it also helps with the bubbles. To create the nice scent they used lavender oil, which also has a calming effect on the skin, Tonka, which also helps reduce inflammation and Ylang Ylang Oil. The oatmeal in this product will lightly scrub, soften and calm the skin.
After reading through the ingredient list and the claims, I feel like this is going to be a treat in the shower. When looking at the product, I don’t get the idea that it’s going to be very soft or moisturising, but it might as well be. I’m interested to see what it’s going to feel like in the shower.
Once in the shower it’s quite easy to use. You hold it underneath the water for a couple of seconds and it starts to foam up and fizz, like a bath bomb. It creates a lot of foam really quickly and definitely more than you need to cleanse your whole body. So what I did is, I took a bit of the foam, and then safely stored the shower bomb somewhere outside of my shower so it can dry up and I can use it again some other time. This worked really well for me. This way it’s not super pricy to use these shower bombs on a regular basis.
The foam coming off of this bomb is very soft and silky. It’s really comfortable to wash your body with. It feels very cleansing and moisturising at the same time and it’s so easy to use. It’s already a foam so there’s no need to be aggressive with it. It does all the work for you.
In terms of smell I don’t think it’s super special. I actually expected something much stronger. Especially compared to the actual Sleepy Shower Gel, I think this could’ve been much stronger. I barely smelled anything and it doesn’t really linger either. It’s very plain when it comes to that.
All in all I do feel like the Lush Sleepy Shower Bomb is a pretty cool and innovative product. I like the idea of it and I like the fact that you can now use a bath bomb in the shower. For those who don’t have a bath, this is definitely an exciting thing I think! It’s also super quick and easy to use, you can use it multiple times, and the foam that comes off of it is very soft and hydrating. The scent isn’t that strong, but aside from that, I like this product a whole lot!
With that being said I’m ending today’s post. Thank you guys so much for reading and be sure to let me know what you think of the shower bombs from Lush!
Of bloemkool. Of misschien wel gecombineerd, bloemkool mét kerrie. Oh my God, wat een nachtmerrie. AAANYWAY. Ik vond de geur ook niet echt aanwezig; had ik wel op gehoopt. Lekker indoezelen in bed met lavendelgeur, maar helaas. Toch maar de bodylotion kopen.
