Lush Sleepy Body Lotion: A Calming Wonder

25/05/2019

Another day, another Lush review right?! Remember when I placed a huge Lush UK order? Well, back then I finally bought some products from the Sleepy range. I first of all got the Lush Sleepy Shower Gel, and I also got the matching body lotion. I don’t know what took me so long. I’ve been using it for months on end. But only now I finally found the time and the right moment to write about it. It’s definitely not because I don’t love it, because spoiler alert: I do. Anyway, it doesn’t matter why it took me so long. Today I’m here and I’m talking to you guys about this product. If you’re interested in finding out what it is like, you should continue reading this post!

The Lush Sleepy Body Lotion comes in one of their very famous black pots. Oh, how I love their black pots. I know that naked products are way better for the environment, but I’d feel a little sad if they would stop selling things in these black pots one day. Even if it’s just for the most adorable font they use to write down the name of the product. I mean, it’s cute you know! I like it. And I also feel like these pots are really nice and sturdy. They’re definitely nice quality and great for recycling and turning them into other things.

But that’s not what this is about. I got the Lush Sleepy Body Lotion and I got the 215 gram version. This body lotion does come in different sizes. So if you’re unsure about liking the scent, you can always choose to go for the 95 gram version. However, if you’re a well known lover of the famous Sleepy scent, there’s also a big 440 gram jar available for you. I can’t even imagine how big that would be.

For me 215 grams is more than enough. Back when I bought this body lotion, the only thing I knew of the scent was based on one quick sniff during the holiday sale in a very busy Lush store. It wasn’t the most clear memory, but all I knew is that I liked it back then. Therefore I felt safe buying the medium-sized jar.

Lush Sleepy Body Lotion 215 grams – €21,95/£15,95

The Lush sleepy scent is famous for its pretty lavender scent. It’s a very calming and soothing scent, hence the name ‘Sleepy’. I believe in the past there was a scent very similar to this called ‘Twilight’. You might recognise the scent from that.

Ingredient-wise, Sleepy does look pretty darn good. Most of the ingredients on the list are coloured green, which means that they are from natural origin. It’s also self-preserving, which is always a good thing. So, let’s take a quick look through the ingredient list, shall we?

Oat Milk, Almond Oil, Lavender Water, Lavender Flower Infusion, Organic Jojoba Oil, Glycerine, Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Butter, Stearic Acid, Ilipe Butter, Triethanolamine, Lavender Oil, Benzoin Resinoid, Tonka Absolute, Ylang Ylang Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Benzyl Benzoate, Benzyl Cinnamate, Coumarin, Geraniol, Limonene, Linalool, Perfume, Snowflake Lustre, Colour 45410, Colour 42090.

All in all it looks pretty darn good. The body lotion has a base of oat milk and almond oil, which is all really moisturising. There’s also A LOT of lavender in here. Lavender water, lavender flower infusion, lavender oil. The list goes on. There is a bit of perfume in there, on the bottom of the list. This means that it’s just a tiny little bit and probably the biggest part of the scent is created with the natural ingredients. There’s also a bit of snowflake lustre in here, which I LOVE!

The Lush Sleepy Body Lotion has a really pretty lavender colour, which matches the scent of this really well. The consistency of the body lotion is really nice as well. It’s nice and creamy but it’s not too heavy on the skin at all. It actually does feel really good. It’s lightweight and it sinks into the skin rather quickly. Of course it is a body lotion with a ton of very hydrating ingredients, so it’s not going to be as lightweight and stuff as a body yoghurt for example. But I don’t think you can compare apples with pears. Is that also an expression in English?

I feel like the Sleepy body lotion does an incredible job at moisturising my skin. It’s really softening and hydrating. I feel like my skin can handle much more after applying this and it also makes my skin feel much more comfortable. Now that the weather is starting to get better again, this might not be that important. But back when it was much colder out, this really was a saviour for me.

Aside from being a great hydrator, the Sleepy body lotion is also known for its calming benefits. At first I didn’t want to believe that it would work for me like that too, but it really, really does. I love using this body lotion after a long day, right before I am about to go to bed. It really relaxes me and gets me into that cosy mood. How strange that a body lotion can do that, right?!

All in all I’m very much surprised by how much I love the Lush Sleepy Body Lotion. In fact, I normally don’t love the scent of lavender. But Sleepy has really changed my mind about that. The packaging of this body lotion is just adorable, the body lotion is amazingly hydrating and full of great ingredients. And best of all, it really helps with calming me down after a busy day. It’s super relaxing and it totally gets you ready for bed. So even if you don’t love body lotion as a product, this might still be a great product for you if you need something in your life to help you relax!

And on that note, I’m ending today’s post. Thank you so much for reading today’s review and be sure to let me know what you think of the Sleepy scent from Lush!

I love this scent – I use it every night on my wrists and neck to get that calm feeling 🙂
