Fun is one of those products from Lush that has never really interested me all that much. At first because I didn’t really know what it was and what to do with it. When I got to know what its purpose is, I wasn’t too hyped for it either. It’s just really didn’t appeal to me. Until I saw the crazy amounts of colours of Fun Lush sells in their Liverpool store. In particular the pink roll of Fun caught my eye, which is called Flamingo Fun. It’s quite an affordable product and all of that together resulted in me wanting it. So, I bought Flamingo Fun (or well, Eveline did it for me) and recently I’ve tried it for the very first time. If you’re interested in finding out what my experience with it was like, make sure you continue reading this post!
The rolls of Fun from Lush all come in this clear wrapper with a typical Lush label on it. You might think that the wrapper is made out of plastic and that it is quite un-Lush to do something like that. That’s exactly what I thought when I first saw this product. Until I read that the wrapper is actually made out of biodegradable cellulose. How cool is that! A bit off topic here, but I really appreciate the lengths Lush goes to in order to be as environmentally friendly as they can be. It shows that it’s possible to use little to none plastic in your packagings. I really hope that lots of brands will take note from that and go plastic-free as well.
Anyway, back to the Fun. Inside this wrapper is a big bar of pink play-dough like product. One bar weighs 100 grams. That’s more than enough for me and a great size if you just want to give it a whirl, but it’s less product compared to the Fun bars you can buy online from Lush. Those weigh about 200 grams. On the other hand: this smaller bar is a lot cheaper, so in the end size doesn’t really matter.

For those of you who are not familiar with Fun I’ll briefly explain what it is. Fun is a play-dough like product that can be used in multiple ways. First of all you can use it as a bubble bar: you just ‘crumble’ it up underneath the running faucet and you’ll end up with tons of really pretty bubbles. You can also use Fun as a soap or as shampoo. And lastly you can use it to clay shapes with it and have fun with that. All in all it’s a very multifunctional and FUN product to use.
The reason why Fun didn’t really appeal to me all this time is because I didn’t think it would be very good. My main purpose for it would be using it as a bubble bar, and I didn’t think it would be all that special. However, now that it comes in bright pink I do really have to get over myself and give it a whirl.
All different colours of Fun have different scents. The Flamingo Fun bar carries the Pink Flamingo scent (hence the name). I wasn’t familiar with that scent before but according to Lush it smells like Ylang Ylang and rosewood. That combo did sound really nice to me, but in real life I’m not as impressed with it as I expected to be. The scent is okay, but it’s not that special. It’s very sweet and a bit ‘chemical’ smelling. I don’t hate it, but it’s definitely not my favourite scent on earth.
Like I said I wanted to use my Fun as a bubble bar, so that’s what I did. I sliced of a piece of my bar and tried to crumble it up underneath the running faucet. It was quite difficult to crumble this up like a normal bubble bar, since Fun has a clay like texture and therefore it doesn’t really crumble. Even though it doesn’t actually crumble, the product does give the bath water a nice pink tint and it does create quite a lot of bubbles. I was actually very surprised by how well it works. I only used a tenth of the roll and I got a really nice result. This is such an affordable way to get the effects of a bubble bar without using a bubble bar.
Just a minute ago I mentioned that I didn’t love the scent of Flamingo Fun. However, once it’s in the tub, the scent isn’t as strong anymore and I actually really don’t mind it. It’s much more subtle now and I like it more than I thought I would. It’s still very sweet, but the chemical scent has faded.
In terms of softening the skin I do think that Fun is a nice product. It’s not like the creamy layer from a bubbleroon, but it does have hydrating effects on the skin. I always appreciate it when a bath product has that effect.
All in all I’m positively surprised by this pink bar of Fun from Lush. I didn’t have very high hopes for it, but it’s actually quite a nice product. I like that it has multiple purposes and I also like the bright pink colour. Straight from the bar I don’t love the scent, but once it’s in the tub I do think it actually has a really nice smell. It’s great as a bubble bar, creates the same amount of bubbles for a fraction of the price and it also has really great hydrating effects on it. Yup, I’m a fan!
And with that being said I’m going to end today’s post. Thank you guys so much for reading it and be sure to let me know if you have ever tried Fun from Lush and if so, how do you like it?
