After a short period of silence on my blog I’m back at it again with a new Lush Bath Bomb review. In today’s post I’m going to review the Lush Fairy Jasmin Bath Bomb. It’s a bath bomb that looks pretty darn boring from the outside, but I was hoping it would have a big surprise on the inside. The name does make it sound like this is going to be a very decadent and feminine bath bomb and that’s exactly what caught my attention. So if you’re interested in finding out if the Lush Fairy Jasmin Bath Bomb is anything more than just a white ball of powder, make sure you continue reading this post!
Like I said the Lush Fairy Jasmin Bath Bomb has a very basic and -sorry- a bit boring look to it. It’s completely white, or well, it’s white with a tiny hint of pink to it. If you have good eyes and you look very, very closely you can tell that there are some silver glitter-flakes in this bath bomb but that’s really all you can see from the outside. And guess what: there’s nothing more on the inside either. In terms of looks this isn’t going to be the most exciting bath bomb you will ever see. Or well, that’s what I thought when I found out there isn’t a big surprise on the inside.
Size-wise this bath bomb isn’t bad at all. The Fairy Jasmin Bath Bomb from Lush is relatively big. I do think that was a must because this is a pretty pricy bath bomb. It’s already not exciting in colour so it did have to have something in order to make people want to spend this kind of money on it.
Now that we’re talking Lush pricing anyway, bath bombs have gotten pretty expensive these days. I do get that this is from the Harajuku collection. It’s exclusive so Lush can get away with giving it a high price. But to be honest I don’t really see why this specific bath bomb needed to be this pricy. It doesn’t have anything special to it aside from the glitter and the fact that it’s an exclusive. I fell for it, for sure, but this really is getting out of hand you guys!
The name Fairy Jasmin already tells us that this bath bomb is going to have some kind of jasmin smell to it. But aside from that we don’t know much about it. This is what Lush tells us about their Fairy Jasmin Bath Bomb on their website:
It’s the glitter things that count, right? So run yourself a sparkle-filled soak and let jasmine, vetivert and ylang ylang cast their spell. As floral, fairy dust-infused waters soften skin, you’ll begin to feel your batteries recharge – as if by magic! *No fairies were harmed in the making of this bewitchingly shimmering bomb.”
After reading this little description I’ve come to realise that this Fairy Jasmin bath bomb might look boring, but it does have some interesting benefits. It should be softening and even MAGICAL!! Okay, let’s not be sarcastic about that. But the softening effect does sound pretty interesting to me.
Ingredient-wise this bath bomb is pretty simple. Its ingredient list consists out of ‘sodium bicarbonate, citric acid, perfume, jasmin absolute, vetivert oil, ylang ylang oil, water, titanium dioxide, calcium sodium borosilicate, tin oxide, hexyl cinnamal and colour 17200′. Not a very long list. Most ingredients are the standard bath bomb ingredients and then there are a couple of things which are special for this specific bath bomb like the jasmin absolute.
I don’t know if you have noticed it already, but I didn’t have very high expectations of this bath bomb. I actually really didn’t know why I even bought it. The day when I finally decided to use it I didn’t really look forward to it and I actually expected the worst. But to my surprise I actually really ended up liking Fairy Jasmin. Both in terms of looks and scent. I really did not expect that.
Let’s first talk looks. When you think of a completely white bath bomb you will probably think it will look boring. But the flakes of silver glitter in this bath bomb actually make the water look absolutely magical. They told me in their description (that I made fun of) and they are right! I just couldn’t stop looking at the beautiful glitter throughout the entire time I was bating in it. It was hard to capture what that looks like on camera, but trust me it looked amazing. Oh and when it’s fizzing it also lets out a little tiny bit of pink which looks stunning too.
And then there is the scent. I expected something very subtle and floral, but to my surprise this bath bomb also had a bit of a spicy tone to it. It was like floral with a hint of cinnamon. A very complimenting combination and also a very unique combination to me. I had never smelled something like that before and I loved every second of it. It’s a scent that fits great into the time of year.
All in all I ended up liking the Lush Fairy Jasmin Bath Bomb way more than I ever expected. I had very, very low expectations and I ended up loving it. From the way it looked in the tub with its beautiful glitter to the way it smelled. A perfect summer to autumn scent. I still don’t agree with the hefty price tag on this, but I definitely wasn’t mad about the fact that I bought it!
With that being said it’s time to end today’s post. Thank you guys so much for reading it and be sure to let me know which bath bomb you had low expectations of but ended up surprising you in a positive way!
