One of the bath bombs from this years’ Lush Halloween collection I wasn’t overly excited about at first is the Lush Mercury Retrograde Bath Bomb. When I hadn’t seen action-photo’s of it yet I didn’t think it looked that exciting. I mean, the colours are halloween-proof and all, but what’s so special about it. I didn’t think I would buy it. Until I saw what it looked like in the tub. Even though I still wasn’t sure about it I decided to buy it. Just to give it a try. And if I end up not liking it, at least I have some review material right? Anyway, today I’m going to review the Mercury Retrograde Bath Bomb from the Lush Halloween collection of 2019 and if you’re interested in finding out how I ended up liking it, make sure you continue reading this review!
The Lush Mercury Retrograde Bath Bomb is a pretty normal shaped and sized bath bomb. It’s nice and big and it’s fully rounded. The thing that makes it special are its colours. For the most part Mercury Retrograde is orange, but it has some swirls of green and purple on it as well as a few pieces of black. The black part isn’t normal bath bomb powder. It looks like black sugar. I’m not exactly sure what it is, but we might find out later on in this post.
The colour combination of the orange, green, purple and black does look very Halloween-like to me. I think it’s a nice colour combination. It’s what makes this bath bomb look like it’s not just from the regular collection. Aside from that it doesn’t look super special to me.
In terms of price I think Mercury Retrograde is on the more expensive side. Or at least it is in the Netherlands. I found out that especially in the Halloween collection the differences in price between the Netherlands and the UK are quite big. Some products are over a Euro cheaper in the UK.
Lush Halloween 2019 Mercury Retrograde Bath Bomb – €6,95/£4,95
Mercury Retrograde is a new product in the Halloween collection from Lush. Or at least, I don’t recall it being in last years’ collection. So let’s see what Lush has to say about it!
On All Hallows’ Eve this year, Mercury will be in retrograde. But before thoughts of imminent chaos cross your mind, grab this cosmic bath bomb. Whether you’ve slept through your alarm, or conversations with friends seem curious, you might be in need of some reassurance. Sicilian lemon oil collides with stimulating ginger to ease tension and lift your mood. While sodium alginate cocoons you in comfort, coarse sea salt helps soften skin. Be soothed by fruity buchu and spicy cinnamon that will leave you feeling celestial and wash any worries of weird interactions away.”
Even though I think that in terms of looks Mercury Retrograde is the least halloween-y bath bomb from the entire Halloween collection, I do think the scent is very halloween-proof. ginger, spicy cinnamon, those two ingredients are key in every autumnal, halloween-y scent in my opinion. I love the scent of cinnamon, especially if it’s mixed with something else I like.
I have to say that I’m really impressed by the scent of this bath bomb. It’s super autumnal and I like it a lot. It’s not too strong, but it’s definitely present. I really enjoyed it.
Like Lush tells us in their claims, this bath bomb has sea salt in it which is supposed to make your skin feel nice and soft. Even though I generally think bath bombs don’t do too much for the skin, I was very surprised by this one. Somehow Mercury Retrograde is super, super moisturising and softening. Throughout the entire bath I noticed that my skin felt super, super soft and silky. Something I haven’t experienced before. Compared to all other bath bombs I’ve ever called softening, this is much, much better. I love it!
And what’s also important to mention is that Mercury Retrograde is an absolute stunner to look at. I mean, look at it. It’s so super pretty. I love how this bath bomb has so much depth. It’s a mixture of orange, lilac and green and also lots of white, creamy areas. It looks flippin’ amazing and I couldn’t stop looking at it.
Normally those white, milky layers go away pretty quick after getting into the bath. But this time they didn’t. And even when they did fade, these parts of the water still made my skin feel so super soft and silky. I’m so impressed by this bath bomb. I really didn’t expect to like it so much.
All in all I think you can tell that I’m a big fan of the Mercury Retrograde bath bomb from the Lush Halloween Collection of 2019. It was a complete surprise to me. I expected it to be pretty basic and boring, but it really isn’t. It’s a super impressive, good smelling and super softening bath bomb. It really did something for my skin and I enjoyed bathing with this bath bomb a whole lot. I highly recommend it!
And with that being said I’m going to end today’s review. Thank you guys so much for reading it and be sure to let me know which products from the Halloween collection you ended up buying!
De mijne zag er echt helemaal anders uit, wat bijzonder! Ik vond de mijne echt iets buitenaards hebben, terwijl de jouwe veel dromeriger lijkt. Maar die geur, zó lekker! Ik hou van zulke kruidige geuren.
I am a fan of the second picture of the bathwater I looks like a piece of art. The first picture… That needs more work, please tell me the first picture is how it starts with and the second is how it will looke like 😛
