I don’t know what has been up with me but it has taken me ages to finish the review of this flippin’ brush. A while back Lush launched a whole makeup brush collection. As the makeup lover that I am I obviously was over the moon about this collection. These brushes were definitely pretty pricy, but to me a good brush has to be a bit pricy. And since it’s Lush there was enough reason for me to decide to buy one of the brushes and give it a try. After carefully looking to the brush collection I ended up buying the Lush Glow To Town Highlighter Brush. It’s handmade, vegan and it looks stunning. In today’s post I’m finally going to tell you guys all about it so make sure you continue reading!
The Lush Glow To Town Handmade Vegan brush comes in a golden cardboard packaging. This packaging is probably just there to protect the brush from getting dirty during the shipping process. When you open up the box all that is in there is the actual make up brush. No excess packaging or plastic or anything like that. That’s what I love about Lush.
The Lush Glow To Town brush has a very, very chic and professional look in my opinion. The handle is fully black and made out of sustainable sourced wood with a cellulose-based lacquer. The golden part is made from recycled aluminium and the hairs are glued together with vegan glue. Everything about the materials that are used to make this brush is just incredible. Even if these brushes are complete crap I’d still praise them for the fact they are made sustainably.
In terms of size I do think the Glow To Town Highlighter Brush got it just right. The handle is just as long as the handles on most of my other brushes and it lays nice in my hand. It feels comfortable and everything about it is just right. I’m a fan. Oh and the black-gold combination is just stunning!

When it comes to makeup brushes the most important thing to me are the bristles. The bristles either make or break the brush. For me the bristles have to be soft, flexible but not too flexible and they have to have the right density. Since this is a highlighter brush I think not much can go wrong, but I’m still pretty picky when it comes to this part of the brush.
On the website the hairs appeared to be both black and dark brown. This created a very natural and soft look. In real life I do feel like the hairs have a bit more of a synthetic feel to them. They are a bit more plastic-feeling than I expected. It’s still a very soft and high-quality brush, but just not in the way I thought it would be. It’s probably just the lighting they used in that little clip shown on the product page but it was a bit off-putting for me.
The shape of this brush is pretty unique. Instead of a normal rounded tip this highlighter brush from Lush actually has a bit of a triangular shape to it and a more thin and pointy tip. It’s hard to capture on camera what I mean by that because I wasn’t really able to show it in 3D. But what I mean with this is the following. If you look at the part of the brush right below the tip, right before it gets more tapered. This is the part that is triangular shaped. And from that point it gets more and more tapered and pointy. Because of this the brush does have a lot of body, but it’s not too dense at the place you don’t want it to be. Thanks to this the brush picks up and applies exactly the right amount of product to the cheekbones.
I really do respect Lush for not just creating a brush, but really thinking about it and creating a shape not everyone creates. A shape of brush that works really well of what it’s supposed to do. Or at least it does in my opinion. I really do feel like these brushes are created by people who actually know makeup and know what works best. That brings these Lush makeup brushes to a whole other level to me. A very professional level.
Lot’s of people have complained about the prices of these Lush makeup brushes and I get it. They aren’t affordable at all. Or well, not very affordable, there are definitely more expensive brushes out there. Anyway, I do understand where the prices are coming from. These brushes have definitely taken a lot of time and energy to create and perfect. You can already tell when you look at the bristles. Even though the structure feels different than I expected it’s still very high quality. And the way the handle and the metal part feels. Everything about this brush is just so well-made. And also handmade. That’s impressive.
I’ve been using this brush for about two months by now on a daily basis and I love it so much. I have tons of brushes and I normally like to switch things up on a weekly basis. So the fact that this brush has stuck with me without fail for two months straight does say al lot about how amazing it is. I’m really, really picky when it comes to brushes but this is really amazing.
I think it’s more than clear that I absolutely love this Lush Glow To Town Highlighter Brush. The fact that it’s vegan and sustainable is already amazing, but the quality is really impressive as well. This is a very well-made brush and definitely a very professional brush. It does come with a bit of a price tag, but I definitely don’t think that the price is too high for what you’re getting. This brush is more than worth it and I’m pretty darn sure that I’m going to buy some more Lush brushes really, really soon!
With that being said I’m going to end today’s post. Thank you guys so much for reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of the Lush makeup brush launch!
