Father’s day has been quite a while ago, but I still managed to get my hands on the Lush father’s day collection Dear John bath bomb. At first I didn’t really feel much for it, until I gave it a sniff in store. I was highly surprised by the smell of it and I knew right then and there that I was going to buy this bath bomb. So I did and I gave it a whirl. Even though it might look like the worlds most boring bath bomb, this is a real stunner in the tub! If you’re interested in seeing what I mean by that and reading about how I like this bath bomb, make sure you continue reading this post!
The Dear John Bath Bomb from Lush has a rather simple look from the outside. The bath bomb is very round and white and it has five blue dots on top of it. The fact that it’s really round might seem obvious, but I’m actually surprised by how perfectly rounded it is. Lots of bath bombs do have some kind of flaw in their roundness and this one really doesn’t. I like that. Even though the design of the bath bomb is super basic and simple, I think that it looks really pretty. It’s not the most appealing bath bomb to the eye, but it is really worth the try. Trust me.
The size of the bath bomb is very much okay. It’s nice and big like most regular bath bombs Lush makes. Even though size doesn’t matter, I felt like that was worth mentioning. The price of this bath bomb is pretty decent. It’s a bit more expensive than the really basic bath bombs, but it’s not as high-priced as most of the Harajuku bath bombs. This did leave me feeling unsure about what to expect. With the more expensive bath bombs I feel like you can expect more surprises and colour in the tub, while with the more affordable ones you can expect them to be more basic.
On the Lush website they tell us the following about the Dear John Bath Bomb:
Submerge yourself in inky-blue waters laced with coriander and spicy clove bud oil when you feel nostalgic for home and family. Smoky vetivert and grounding cedarwood soothe mind and body, combining just a hint of tobacco with the earthiness of the great outdoors. As you soak, the personal and poignant perfume made by Mark Constantine for his father is at work, evoking the comfort of home with a yearning for the past.”
I have to say, when I initially read this scent-description I wasn’t very much attracted to this bath bomb. I mean, tobacco, nope. That’s not my cup of tea. That’s why I actually picked it up in store. That’s where I decided to give it a smell and found out that it’s actually really, really good smelling. Call me crazy but I definitely don’t think that Dear John smells anything like tobacco or smokey anything. It actually has a very clean, gentle and nice scent to it. It’s very soft and almost like fresh linnen. That’s the complete opposite of tobacco.
Normally I’d ramble on about the bath bomb a little longer, but with these pictures waiting for you I just couldn’t. I mean: LOOK AT IT! Isn’t this stunning. When I just popped the Dear John Bath Bomb into the tub there was only white coming out of it. I knew that the outside of this bath bomb was fully white so I wasn’t going to be surprised if the whole bath bomb was going to be white, but it would have disappointed me.
After a couple of minutes the bath bomb hit the stage where it started to burst out blue as well. At first there were only hints of baby blue coming out of the bomb and slowly but surely the blue got darker and more intense. This resulted in this amazing looking bath art that completely blew my mind. Normally blue and white ins’t my favourite colour combination, but this design really impressed me. I’m so in love with the look of my tub with this bath bomb in it.
Once dissolved the scent filled the room. My entire bathroom smelled clean and fresh and I was loving every second of it. This bath bomb really was like a hidden gem for me. I didn’t expect too much of it and it ended up looking and smelling just absolutely gorgeous.
I don’t think it’s a surprise that the Dear John Bath Bomb from Lush has become one of my favourite bath bombs ever. It looks so clean and simple from the outside, but once you pop it into your tub it slowly becomes the most beautiful thing you have ever seen. And the scent: LOOOVE it! Yup, I’d definitely buy this again. And luckily for me (and those who want to buy it too) it’s still available online and in some stores. So rush over there and get your Dear John!
And that brings us to the end of today’s post. Thank you guys so much for reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of this simple yet stunning Dear John bath bomb!
