Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub

30/12/2019

Last December I bought my first ever Lip Scrub from Lush. That might seem like a bit of a boring product to buy, but in fact it was something I wanted to buy for years but never really did. Back then I bought a scrub from the Christmas collection since it was on sale. But the one Lip Scrub from Lush I actually always wanted to buy was the Bubblegum Lip Scrub. I love sweet scents and tastes so this one seemed totally up my alley. Since the other one I have wasn’t really nearing its end I didn’t think I’d buy the Bubblegum Lip Scrub anytime soon, but somehow I did. I don’t really know why, I definitely didn’t need it, but somehow I wanted it that bad that I decided to get it anyway. Long story short: today it’s time for the Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub review and if you’re interested in finding out if it’s as good as I pictured it to be, make sure you continue reading this post!

The Lip Scrubs from Lush always come in these really adorable little jars. The bottom part is made of glass and that does add a fancy touch to them. The fact that these jars are made from glass do mean that they aren’t part of the Lush recycle program. But on the other hand they are really adorable and I already have a million ideas of what I can do with it after I finish the lip scrub. So many ideas.

Anyway, the lid of this jar is made from black plastic and has a pink label on it telling us which scent this is. Obviously you can tell by everything already, but it’s still nice to know. The jar itself also has a similar label wrapped around it with some information. And on the bottom of the jar is the classic Lush-employee sticker letting us know which angel made this scrub for us. By the way: has any of you experienced that you start to recognise the people of these stickers. Like sometimes when I buy something new from Lush and I look at that sticker I’m like ‘I know you. You also made my shower gel and my face scrub’. Please tell me I’m not the only one who has that.

I’m rambling again. The Lush Bubble Gum Lip Scrub comes with 25 grams of product. That might seem like just a little bit, but trust me it’s a lot. A tiny little bit of this scrub goes a very long way so one of these jars will last you literally forever. I’m telling you.

Lush Bubblegum Lip Scrub 25g – €10/£6,50

The Bubblegum Lip Scrub is definitely a big classic. It’s been around for ages and I feel like it’s everybodies favourite. Let’s see what Lush has to say about it!

Prep your lips with a buff and polish at the start of your make-up routine to ensure your lipstick glides on and stays put. Just apply with a clean finger, and let the exfoliating caster sugar and softening jojoba oil scrub away dead skin and infuse moisture to rejuvenate your smile. Bubblegum lip scrub won’t leave any greasy residue; just a sweet candy taste that you’ll enjoy licking off. Lip-smackingly good.”

As you can tell this lip scrub is more than just a simple mixture of sugar and olive oil. Because obviously you can make a lip scrub at home yourself really easily. But this is more than just that. It is made from caster sugar and has softening jojoba oil in it. That is topped of with some fragrance/flavour ingredients and some colourants making this lip scrub much more than just another simple lip scrub. It doesn’t just look and smell good, it also tastes really nice. And if you didn’t know this already: the Lush lip scrubs are edible!

The scent of the Bubblegum Lip Scrub is pretty much just Snow Fairy. Or at least that’s what it reminds me of big time. It’s super sweet, it’s fruity and it’s super tasty. I love that I can now literally eat the Snow Fairy scent. It might sound weird but that has been a dream of mine for ages.

I tend to use my lip scrub about once every one or two weeks. Not that often, but on a regular. Throughout the winter I do tend to use it more often since my lips are more chapped and flakey. They just need it. Whenever I use this scrub I just take a little bit of it on my finger and massage it into my lips. When I feel like every part of my lip has been scrubbed I lick it off. I think it tastes really good, but if you don’t you can always remove the product with like a tissue or a bit of water. Whatever you please.

After removing the scrub from my lips, my lips don’t just feel super soft they also feel nice and moisturised. And that’s because of the jojoba oil in this product. Looking at the scrub you can tell that there’s lots of moisture in here. Compared to the other scrub I have -which is called Cranberry Fizz– I think that Bubblegum is much more moisturising. The Cranberry Fizz lip scrub has a much drier consistency. Because Bubblegum does have more oil in it it’s also a lot easier to use. I really do prefer this scrub over my Cranberry Fizz.

How long the effect of the lip scrub lasts does depend a lot on your lips and on how you treat them. I usually follow the scrubbing up with a lip balm to keep them nice and soft. In the winter I do think I need to scrub my lips once a week in order to keep them soft and smooth. Throughout the rest of the year once every two weeks will do.

All in all I’m really glad I finally bought the long loved Bubblegum Lip Scrub from Lush. It’s a product I’ve been meaning to try for literally years and now I finally did. It definitely hasn’t disappointed me. If anything I think it really impressed me. It’s much more hydrating than the Cranberry Fizz Lip Scrub from Lush I bought last year and it also smells and tastes absolutely incredible. If you love the sweet scent of Snow Fairy, definitely give this lip scrub a try! You’ll love it!

And that brings us to the end of today’s review. Thank you guys so much for reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of using lip scrubs and if you do use them, which one is your favourite!
