Somehow buying bath bombs from the main collection from Lush isn’t always the most appealing thing. I mean Lush does do amazing limited edition collections. Almost the entire year there is some sort of limited collection available, so there’s really no time even to buy something from the main range. However, a while ago I did decide I wanted to try most of the bath bombs from the main collection. Maybe there are some hidden gems in there? I ended up buying Avobath Bath Bomb. I had very low expectations of it and that’s mostly because it looked so flippin’ basic. Today I used it and I’m going to tell you guys all about my experience with it.
Look-wise the Avobath Bath Bomb from Lush is pretty simple. It’s a smooth, round ball with the Lush logo on top of it. Most of the more affordable bath bombs from Lush aren’t very special looking in terms of shape and colour, but I do think it’s pretty okay. The shape might be boring but well, once you drop this into your tub it doesn’t matter anyway. And colour-wise I do think it’s really pretty. This bath bomb has a very pretty creamy green/minty colour that I really, really can appreciate.
In terms of size I was impressed by how big Avobath is. Again, considering the price you wouldn’t expect that. But Avobath actually has the ‘standard’ bath bomb size that the more expensive bath bombs have too. I was definitely very impressed by that.
Right off the bat I do think that Avobath is a pretty decent looking bath bomb. It’s neat. It’s not super exciting, it doesn’t look extremely promising, but I definitely don’t hate it. Especially considering its price I don’t think you can say anything negative about it.
Lush Avobath Bath Bomb – €5,50 / £3,95
So let’s see what Lush has to say about Avobath on their website:
Guac this way to ultimate softness with a little help from fresh avocado. Take a long soak and let your skin drink up the moisturising goodness of your favourite mashable green fruit. Organic extra virgin olive oil quenches even further, while uplifting lemongrass oil revives the mind and soothes achy pins. Pop into running water, relax and avobath. Skin rehydrated and mind focused – you’re ready for anything.”
Doesn’t that sound pretty promising? Well, at the time I bought this bath bomb –which was back when I did a big Lush haul– I thought I didn’t like avocado or guacamole or anything related to that food group. I had never tasted it before, but I didn’t have a very positive association with it. That’s basically why I wasn’t expecting too much of this bath bomb. At least not in terms of scent. However, recently I discovered how good avocado tastes and that made me more excited about this bath bomb. Weird how food can make you think differently about a flippin’ ball of powder that you throw into your bath.
Anyway, in terms of scent Avobath is really, really nice. To me it smelled nice and fresh, but not in a fruity or minty way. It smelled clean, comforting and warm in a way too. It’s just a really nice combination of scents that I thoroughly enjoyed. It’s actually such a nice scent that this has become one of my favourite bath bombs of all time. Yep, who saw that one coming, right?!
Aside from the scent I do think that the way a bath bomb looks in the tub is really important. I mean, if you don’t do it for the looks, what do you do it for? Maybe the scent but you get the point. I have to admit that Avobath really surprised me with its looks. I didn’t expect it to be super epic or anything like that, but I was kind of in love with the way it looked in the tub. The water ended up getting this really pretty turquoise colour that I love and I did see a tiny bit of glitter floating through the bath.
In the little story from Lush they tell us that Avobath is also supposed to be hydrating. Even though I don’t think most bath bombs are very hydrating, I do get where they are coming from. It’s not like Shoot For The Stars. But it is nice and hydrating. It is more softening than most bath bombs are.
All in all Avobath really did blow my mind. This was one of the bath bombs from that huge order I was probably least excited about and it ended up being really amazing. I’m definitely going to repurchase this bath bomb. It really deserves way more shine. Avobath is avo-mazing! I can’t believe I just said that.
Anyway, thank you guys so much for reading today’s review and be sure to let me know which Lush bath bomb from the main collection is your absolute favourite!
