Lush American Cream Conditioner

13/02/2019

In my most recent Lush Wishlist I told you guys I really wanted to try some haircare products from Lush. More specifically, the American Cream conditioner and I Love Juicy shampoo. Well, this might not come as a surprise, but not long after making the wishlist I bought both products. I have been washing my hair with it for a while now and since I’m just so excited about them both I felt like I really wanted to review them today, starting off with the American Cream Hair Conditioner. So, if you want to find out more about this American Cream Conditioner and whether or not it works for me, make sure you continue reading this post!

Like all liquid conditioners from Lush, the American Cream Conditioner comes in a bottle. The bottle has the classic Lush design and I just can’t help but love it to pieces. The bottle is clear and has a black cap. It also has a little label around the middle on which it tells you what this product is, what’s in it and all that kind of jazz. I just really like the font they use and I also enjoy the simplicity of the packaging. It’s just very Lush and I’m a big fan of that.

The Lush American Cream Conditioner comes in three different sizes. The smallest one comes with 100 grams, then we have a 240 gram bottle and the biggest one comes with 475 grams. On the UK website they actually do have an even bigger one that comes with 950 grams, but that one isn’t available in The Netherlands. I personally ended up going for the 100 gram version for two reasons. One being that I have never tried it before and I don’t want to dive in without knowing it will work for me. And second of all because not long after purchasing this I was going to place an order on the UK website where it’s actually quite a bit cheaper, so I wanted to get a bigger one there.

Even though the 100 gram bottle they make is the smallest and it actually looks pretty small, it does come with a ton of product. By the time I took these pictures I had already used it trice and it still looks like it’s unused. Okay, three time usage isn’t a lot, but in other products I can tell if I’ve used it after three times.

Lush American Cream Conditioner 100 gram – €7,95In this years valentines collection there’s actually a shower gel and a body conditioner with the same scent as this conditioner. I actually found out about the existence of this conditioner thanks to the American Cream Naked Shower Gel and American Pie Naked Body Conditioner. The scent of both of those products really, really impressed me and that made me fall in love with this range. When I went into the store to ask advice about which conditioner I should get, my choice was obviously highly influenced by the scent of this product.

The American Cream products, and thus conditioner, smell like a milkshake. It’s a creamy scent with a touch of strawberry to it but also some vanilla. This creates the best scent ever. I just love to have my hair smell like this. Really you guys, if you haven’t smelled it just yet, do so. I can’t imagine someone not loving it!

Okay, enough about the scent. Moving on to the ingredients. This conditioner is made with vanilla bean infusion, propylene glycol (which makes the hair easy to brush and soft), a whole fresh orange (which conditions the hair, adds shine and makes it easier to comb through) and honey and lanolin (which hydrate the hair). Two ingredients that are less impressive are the perfume and the sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). These are both rather drying.

On the website Lush tells us a little more about this product:

“A strawberry-loving, milkshake-scented cheerleader for silky Hollywood hair. Warning: has been known to bring boys to the yard. Indulge in this rich and divinely perfumed hair conditioner for shiny, addictively sweet locks you’ll want to swish all over town. Fresh strawberries gently cleanse the hair, while a splash of orange juice encourages the cuticles to lie flat and reflect more light for seriously gorgeous gloss.

Relaxing clary sage and lavender ensure your scalp gets plenty of pampering too, calming things down with honey water. A mouthwatering strawberries and cream perfume is the cherry on top of the cake, it’s likely to leave your hair (and everyone else) wanting more. “

To me it all sounds very good. I like how playful these little texts are on their website. I also really like the fact that this is supposed to give me shiny and sweet locks with enough hydration but nothing too much. I have very thin and greasy hair that’s easy to weigh down and therefore I don’t need something to extreme. However, my hair can be dry along the ends, so I need something that is going to hydrate that good enough as well.

I feel like this American Cream Conditioner is exactly that. The sales lady in store already told me that this conditioner is great for my thin and greasy hair. She said that this is going to give some hydration, but that it won’t be too heavy on my hair. And that it is. I really experienced what she tried to tell me back then. It’s hard to explain, but in short this is the exact right balance between proper hydration and lightweight hair care. It’s like the gel-creams in moisturisers. Great for oily skin because they are lightweight, but they do give enough hydration. That’s exactly this.

The formula of this conditioner is pretty lightweight as well. It’s not thick or heavy at all. It’s easy to spread across the hair. Even though it does feel lightweight, it doesn’t feel like it’s not going to do anything. It actually does feel like it has enough hydration to it. And it does.

In the end I feel like this conditioner makes my hair much easier to handle. Now that I don’t wash my hair daily anymore, I feel like my hair gets more and more tangled up. This conditioner makes my hair a lot easier to comb through. It makes it nice and shiny without giving it that greasy shine. I also feel like it alters the texture of my hair. My hair feels super soft and silky and not super stick straight and sleek. It’s a huge difference. It’s hard to explain it with words, but well you just going to have to trust me on this one. It makes a bit difference and I can clearly notice it.

All in all the Lush American Cream Conditioner really stole my heart. It’s just as amazing as I hoped it would be and it has that amazing strawberry milkshake scent. This is the absolute perfect conditioner for anyone with thin, sleek and/or greasy hair but with dry ends. It gives me the most beautiful shiny, soft locks without making my hair greasy or shiny in a greasy way. I feel like my hair can easily last 3 days without washing when I use this conditioner and that’s not an effect all conditioners have on my hair. I’m really happy I discovered this conditioner and I’m sure I’ll be using it for a very long time!

And that’s it for today. I hope you enjoyed this rather lengthy review of the Lush American Cream Conditioner. Thank you for reading and be sure to let me know if you have any experience with the Lush conditioners!
