Until very recently, I had never owned nor tried a shower jelly from Lush. It just didn’t really appeal to me to be honest. But then Lush released a very special range of shower jellies. Jellies with some of the most famous scents ever, including 29 High Street. After falling in love with the Aubergine Bath Bombs, which smells like 29 High Street, I’ve been feeling the urge to buy everything that smells like 29HS. That’s pretty much why I couldn’t resist getting this jelly. I’ve tried it a couple of times now, so I feel like it’s about time to review it for you guys. If you’re interested in finding out what this amazing smelling shower jelly is like, make sure you continue reading this post!
The Lush 29 High Street Shower Jelly comes in a bit plastic container. It contains 240 grams of jelly and that’s quite a lot. When I first took the jelly out of the pot, I was surprised by how big it is. I definitely think that it will last you quite a lot of uses because of that. And well, looking at how much you pay for this bad boy, I definitely think that it’s a reasonable amount of product to get.
In terms of packaging I think it looks okay. I do have to admit that this clear plastic packaging is my least favourite when it comes to the looks in Lush products. It’s okay, for sure, and it works. But it’s just not that pretty you know. And looks don’t matter if the product is great, but well. It’s something worth mentioning.
Oh and by the way, I do feel like the jar doesn’t close off that well. When I received this it felt wet, like it had leaked. And some of the moist from the jelly actually ruined one of the other products in that order. So that’s a bit sad. I don’t know if that happens often, but it did this time and I don’t like that.
Lush Community Favourites 29 High Street Shower Jelly – €14,95/£11,95
According to Lush their 29 High Street Shower Jelly is a clash of citrus, floral and sweet scents that collide in a refreshing treat to cleanse your skin and inspire your senses. The scent should resemble the unmistakable Lush scent that greets you when you walk into one of their stores. The lemon and lime blend with ylang ylang and jasmine along with warming tonka absolute and sandalwood oil. And that sounds pretty flippin’ good!
The scent is just the best. I do have to admit that I like the 29 High Street scent in the Aubergine bath bomb a tad bit better, but this is pretty much the same. Just a bit stronger and a tad less sweet. But all in all it’s really nice. It is in fact just like an actual Lush store scent.
The scent is actually really nice and strong. It’s much stronger than in a shower gel in my opinion and I like that. If something smells as good as this does, you want to smell it strongly.
In terms of ingredients I think this bad boy looks pretty okay. The jasmine flower infusion is second on the list and there are so many good smelling ingredients in here. There’s also perfume in this jelly, which I don’t think is necessary, but I’ll allow it.
In terms of using this jelly I have to say I’m not as enthusiastic. I knew going in that I probably wasn’t going to be in love with the whole jelly thing, and I’m not. I like the idea of it and I definitely think it’s fun. But this isn’t practical you guys. Who is able to actually use a shower jelly properly. I mean, I’m not. It’s such a struggle to use this without dropping it a thousand times and letting it slip into the shower drain.
What I did is I cut the whole thing up in little squares. This was a bit of a messy situation, but it needed to happen. When I get into the shower I take a piece with me and use it with a washing cloth to cleanse my body. I’ve tried using a loofah as well, but I don’t know if that was such a success. The thing is that It’s hard to use it right. I feel like you need to break the jelly a bit to really get it going. But in order to get it to that point, you do have to be a bit aggressive.
Once the job is done, I do feel like my body is nice and clean and I smell just incredible. It really is all for the scent in this case. If this were a shower gel, I’d love it even more. But the scent does make up for all of the inconvenience that comes with using this jelly. It’s so darn good!
All in all I am really happy with my Lush 29 High Street Shower Jelly from the Community Favourites collection. I don’t love the whole concept of a shower jelly, it’s just not practical. Not even a little bit. But I do like the scent of this jelly so much that I’m still happy I ended up buying this product. Even if I’m not going to use this an awful lot, I can smell it all day long and that’s really exciting.
And with that being said I’m ending today’s review. Thank you guys so much for reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of the shower jellies from Lush!
Mooie review!
