L’Oreal True Match Le Blush 145 Rosewood

07/03/2018

Back in the day I used to absolutely adore L’Oreal blushes. I used it all the time and I jus swore by it. Because I got so crazy on buying other makeup I kind of forgot about it for a while, but just a couple of months ago I decided to order a new L’Oreal blush and see whether it’s still as amazing as I remember them to be and whether or not I still love them as much as back then. So, I have been trying this blush for a while now and I think it’s about time for me to review it, so that’s what I’m doing today. If you’re interested in finding out everything there is to know about this blush, make sure you continue reading!

First things first, the packaging. Let’s just immediately say that I’m not in love with it. For some reason these clear packagings just don’t do it for me. I think it looks rather cheap and plastic. I do like the silver lining around the lid, I think that that’s a nice detail, but aside from that I’m not a huge fan of the packaging. The packaging also feels like it’s not very well-made at all, it feels as if it’s going to be falling apart any minute from now and that’s something I don’t like about it as well.

On the other hand there are a couple of things that I do like about the packaging. First of all I really appreciate the fact that it comes with a little mirror inside of the compact. That’s not something we see a lot in drugstore blushes so in my opinion that’s a very positive thing. It also comes with a little brush inside which does feel relatively nice too, which makes it very easy to touch up your blush on the go. Or touch up anything else for that matter. So overall I don’t like the look of the packaging, but it does have some little things to it that make it better than other drugstore packagings.

L’Oreal True Match Le Blush in 145 Rosewood – €9,45

Moving on to the shade of the blush. In blushes I don’t really have a huge preference for shades anymore, I do like pretty much everything except for very orangy tones since that just doesn’t work for my skin tone. Anything else is fine by me. This blush is in the shade 145 Rosewood and it’s a very pretty warm, rosy pink colour with a settle sheen to it. I think it’s a very sweet and loveable colour and I think this would look good on a lot of complexions. It’s a very universally flattering shade and a shade that will go very well with pretty much any makeup look you can ever think of. In my opinion that’s a huge plus about this blush.

Having said that, let’s talk about the claims. According to L’Oreal their True Match Le Blush will create a healthy and radiant glow. It’s supposed to be a soft powder that has a subtle hint of shimmer, which is supposed to catch the light to illuminate the complexion and help to perk up dull-looking skin. It’s supposed to be easy to blend, presented in a sleek and stylish compact and it’s perfect for on te go. This stunning blush will ensure your complexion looks rosy all year round.

After reading the claims I got even more excited about rediscovering the L’Oreal blushes than I already was. I mean, L’Oreal makes it sound like this is going to be IT. The most amazing blush ever. But well, they can say it is, but that doesn’t mean so much. Let’s quickly go on with the review and find out if it’s really as amazing as L’Oreal claims it to be.

When it comes to the soft texture that L’Oreal promised us I am pretty positive. I do think that this is one of the softest and most creamy blush powders I have ever found in the drugstore. It’s not nearly as dry as some (drugstore) powders can be and I like that about it. It makes it feel nicer to the touch but in a way it also adds a bit of a luxurious feeling to the product and I like that about it.

However, because of this super soft and creamy texture I do think it’s a little difficult to blend. Well, that might have to do something with the pigmentation as well, but in general I find this a difficult blush to work with. It really is creamy in a way that it really sticks to your face and likes to stay right where you put it. In a way this isn’t a bad thing because it does mean that the powder will stay in place for hours after hours, but it also means that it’s just very difficult to blend and if you have applied a bit too much of it, this can definitely be a problem.

Aside from the fact that it can be a problem, it’s also the opposite of what L’Oreal claimed. They said that this was going to be a very easy to blend product and I do not agree with that.

Like a mentioned the blendability problem also has something to do with the excess amount of pigmentation in this blush. As most of you know by now I don’t like my blushes to be too pigmented. I think it makes them way harder to properly work with and I just don’t like the look of a very heavy blush on my cheeks. This blush is definitely one of the most pigmented ones out there and for me that’s a turn-off. It’s not even just a bit overly pigmented, it’s just way, way, way too much. Even if you use a light hand with this product it’s very easy to pick up too much product and end up looking like a clown. In other words it’s not a great product to use if you’re doing your makeup when you’re still half asleep because it does require some attention!

When it comes to staying power, however, I am very positive. It almost seems like this blush is going to stain your face. It really ain’t going nowhere. And that’s a big plus. No matter what happens, whether you sweat, cry, feel cold or even when you cry or touch it a million times, this blush doesn’t go anywhere. So if you have managed to work with the pigmentation problem this is a pretty fool-proof blush and perfect for day’s where you just need to not worry about your makeup.

Overall I have mixed feelings about this L’Oreal True Match Le Blush in 145 Rosewood. I do really like the colour and I love the subtle sheen in it. I think it adds a really pretty flush to my cheeks. However I just don’t think that this is the easiest blush to work with, especially not if you’re not fully awake and therefore not paying the attention to the application that it requires. So therefore it’s not a blush I gravitate towards a lot, but if I do manage to apply it nicely I do like the look of it.

That’s pretty much it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of this blush and if you have any shades you’d recommend to me!
