One of the products I bought this Black Friday is this Living Proof Style Lab Blowout Styling & Finishing Spray. Living Proof is a very interesting brand in my opinion but so far I didn’t have a lot of experience with it just yet. Until I saw this one. Since I do blow dry my hair very frequently I decided this might be a very interesting product for me to try. Normally I don’t use anything on my hair except for shampoo and conditioner and occasionally some hairspray, but somehow this bottle interested me. So, I bought it and I gave it a good test. In today’s post I’m going to tell you guys all about it and I’m very excited to do so. So, if you’re interested in finding out more about it, make sure you continue reading this post!
The Living Proof Style Lab Blowout Styling & Finishing Spray comes in a really pretty bottle. The bottle is made out of that same rubberised plastic feeling material Nars packagings are made of. I really like the feel of it. The packaging is very simple as it is. It’s black and it has grey/silvery text on it. It doesn’t say a lot on the front but it does tell you all of the important things that you need to know right off the bad.
The bottle comes with a spray nozzle that works really well for me. It has a nice diffused and fine mist that isn’t too concentrated or heavy. It’s easy to spray all throughout the hair like they tell you to. All in all everything about the design of the bottle is nice and works like it should. I like it a lot.
About the size of the bottle, it comes with 148 ml of product. I always think it’s weird how Living Proof does these weird amounts of product. Why not 150? Well, I’m not going to be difficult about it. I can live without those 2 ml, but well. It’s strange. I think 148 ml of product is quite okay but it’s not a lot. Considering you don’t need much per use I think it’s more than okay.

According to Living Proof their Blowout spray is supposed to make the process of blowdrying your hair faster and easier. It also says that you’ll end up with that salon worthy blowout. Since Living Proof is a very sciency brand there is a bit of science behind the product. They claim that it allows you to shape and style your hair at the temperature of 49°C instead of the 93°C it normally needs. This will be better for your hair. It also cuts down the number of brush strokes needed to style your hair by 30% and it delivers an optimal level of grip with flexible hold to shape, set and lock in your style all day while maintaining natural movement. In addition to all of that it provides heat protection up to 230°C. It’s supposed to be ideal for fine to medium hair.
One last thing about it that I didn’t even read before I purchased this is that it’s also silicone free. My hair gets really greasy when I use silicones in it, so the fact that this is silicone free is a big plus. It allows me to use this product without greasiness, even now that I’m not washing it daily anymore.
All of those claims do make this sound like the most amazing product on earth. However, when I wanted to use it for the very first time I had no clue how to use it. I ended up watching a QVC video about it and that’s when I figured out how it works. Once you get out of the shower and have wet hair, you spray this onto the hair. You can do it in sections and you have to move the bottle from the roots to the ends of the hair while your spraying. You do this all across your hair and then you can start blowdrying. Once you’ve sprayed you hair with it, you can already tell that it’s becoming a lot more dry. Therefore the blowdrying process will be even quicker.
Looking at the claims I can see why some of you might think that it’s all a bit too good to be true. I have to say that I was a little skeptical about this at first too. I mean, how amazing can a product be? Well, it’s actually as amazing as it sounds. I really think it is. This spray does it all for me. It actually makes me feel like a hair model. My favourite thing about it is that it gives my hair this super soft texture and it makes it very flexible. It’s even softer and more flexible than it is when I don’t touch it at all.
Another thing I’ve noticed that is that it does in fact decrease the drying time. Normally blowdrying my hair is quite a task and it does take a good 15 to 20 minutes. Whenever I use this spray in advance this time is cut down to a maximum of 10 minutes. When I apply it I can already tell that my hair gets less wet and when I turn on my blowdryer it’s just a couple of minutes of work to get my entire head of hair to dry down completely.
In terms of shaping the hair I think this is great as well. I’ve noticed that I don’t need to repeat the same movement that I use to get my hair to shape a certain way as often. I just do it like once or twice and it’s okay. Even though I haven’t done the moment as much as I would when I don’t use this product, my hair stays in that shape all day long. Even on the second day my hair still looks really smooth and perfectly shaped.
I know that everything about this product sounds a bit too good to be true, but it really is too good to be true. I’m a firm believer of Living Proof now. I think this product is just amazing and so worth the money. I get that it might sound like a bit of a useless product, but I notice so much difference. And for me, being someone who does blow dry her very regularly, it’s super worth it. I literally can’t go without it anymore. I remember than when I bought it I wasn’t sure how ‘necessary’ this product was going to be for me, but now I know how great it is, I’m going to repurchase this every time it will run out. It’s a hair-essential for me!
With that being said I think I’ve covered everything. Thank you so much for reading today’s post and be sure to let me know which hair products are your essentials!
