One of the products that came inside my LF Beauty Box of April is this Laura Geller Balance -n- Brighten Baked Powder. Laura Geller is quite a well-known brand, but I didn’t have too much experience with them yet. Therefore I really liked finding this product inside the box. It allowed me to get to know the brand a little better. But, without further ado, I’m going to review this little guy today and if you’re interested in finding out more about it I highly recommend you keep on reading!
The Laura Geller Balance -n- Brighten Powder comes in a black packaging. On the front is a little opening through which you can see the product, but aside from that it’s pretty much just black. Because I got it in my LF Beauty Box this is actually a travel-sized version, but from what I’ve seen the full size looks pretty similar packaging wise.
The Laura Geller Balance -n- Brighten Powder comes in a couple of shades. The one I received is called Fair and it’s a light shade with neutral undertones. Since I am very pale and a neutral undertone this colour matches my skintone perfectly.

The product itself looks pretty unique. It’s a baked powder and you can tell it is by the really pretty marbly design in the product. The marbles all have different colours ranging from brown to lilac to white. It’s all in there. It might seem a bit scary since it’s so colourful, but blended together it turns into a very natural skintone colour.
Having said that, let’s move on to the claims. According to Laura Geller this powder is colour-correcting and weightless. It’s supposed to have a creamy coverage that makes your skin look flawless and beautifully radiant. All together they claim that it’s a powder with a nice amount of coverage and a radiant finish to it. The whole thing with the creamy coverage does sound a bit vague to me, but that’s ok.
Moving on to the actual product. First of all I really like the way it feels. It’s a very unique powder. It’s a very rich and luxurious feeling powder. It has something to it that makes it feel different from any other powder. Most baked products I have ever tried were very dry, but this is the complete opposite of that. I’m so impressed by the way this powder feels.
When it comes to doing its job this is not a disappointment either. The powder does have a slight bit of coverage to it, I’ll come back to that later, and it mattifies the skin but not in an extreme way. It does leave behind that natural radiance that you do want, but the oily glow is gone.
It was pretty much impossible to capture the swatch on camera but if you look very closely you can tell that there is some powder on my hand. As you can tell it does have more coverage than a regular powder has. That’s because, I believe, this is meant as a foundation powder instead of your usual setting powder. Even though I’m not a huge lover of powder foundation I can appreciate this product. I can imagine me wearing it on a very hot summer day when I don’t feel like wearing a ton of makeup at all.
The staying power of this powder isn’t what you’d call disappointing either. You might be able to tell but I’m really impressed by this product. I didn’t really know what to expect, but this product turned out to be a really big winner. The powder stays in place pretty much all day and it keeps my oiliness under control while keeping that natural radiance alive.
Overall I’m really liking this product. I’m impressed by the quality of it and I’m very impressed by the fact that I’m actually using a powder foundation right now. I have never done that before. This powder is just everything you could wish for in a foundation powder. It does keep the oils on your face under control, it balances out your skintone and it makes your skin look flawless and healthy. It’s definitely the best foundation powder I have come across so far and therefore I do recommend giving it a try!
Thank you so much for reading today’s post and be sure to let me know if you have ever used a powder foundation and if so, be sure to let me know which powder foundations you enjoy using!
XOXO, Nicole.
