I have always been someone who was skeptical about lash primers. Why would people feel the need to prime every part of their face before makeup. I mean I get if you prime your eyes and your face, I do too. But your lashes? I always thought that was kind of an unnecessary step in a makeup routine. A few weeks ago I ordered a makeup set by Tarte and one of the products that came in there was a lash primer. The spokesperson was really excited about it so I decided to give lash primer another chance. Today I’m going to review it and let you guys know whether lash primer is a total bust or not. If you’re interested in finding out, make sure you keep on reading!
The lash primer I got for today’s review is by Tarte. It’s actually a part of the mascara and primer duo. On the primer part it says ‘Opening Act’ which, as far as I’m concerned, is the name of the lash primer. I think that’s quite a cute name and I really like how they designed the packaging for this product. It looks really nice and chique.
The wand it comes with is pretty much the same wand as the wand the Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes mascara comes with. It’s quite long and voluminous and it has actual hairs on it. Instead of being black like a mascara wand this one is white and is covered in white product.
The idea behind lash primer is that it makes your lashes even more voluminous, thicker and longer. It should also make your mascara last longer throughout the day. It sounds pretty interesting but I didn’t really believe the difference would be that big.
Now that I’ve giving it a try I have to say that I was a little too harsh on lash primers. I couldn’t take a before and after picture because I have a super, super, super, busy schedule so I’m sorry for that, but it honest does make quite a big difference. My lashes are way more black and voluminous when I use this product and they stay like that all day, no matter what. I still don’t think it’s a necessary product but if you want your lashes to be extra dramatic or if you have very straight and short lashes, this could definitely be a great product for you.
Overall I’m quite impressed by this product. I never expected to like it so much but it’s actually pretty amazing. It’s not necessarily an essential in your routine, but primer for your face isn’t either and I like using that too. It does make quite a big difference and especially for those who have difficult lashes this could be a wonderful product!
The Tarte Opening Act & Lights, Camera, Lashes Primer & Mascara is available at QVC.
That was it for today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know if you use lash primers!
XOXO, Nicole.
Sounds awesome! I didn’t even know Lash Primers existed, oops, but I LOVE Tarte, it’s one of my favorite brands so I am tempted to pick this one up as soon as I run out of my other mascaras!
