Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation

09/11/2017

I really like the brand Lancome, but sadly I have never tried a foundation from the brand before. I’ve always wanted to, but because of the things I heard and read about it regarding the shades being pretty dark and oxidising I held back. Until a while ago when I finally decided to just go ahead and buy it. I ended up getting the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation and after testing it thoroughly, it’s finally time for the review. So, if you’re interested in finding more about this Lancome foundation, make sure you continue reading!

The Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation comes in a frosted glass bottle. It’s a very elegant packaging and a very Lancome one. With that I’m mean that the bottle reminds me of Lancome’s style. Anyway, the bottle has a black lid with a golden square on top of it with a rose on it. The rest of the bottle doesn’t have much decoration going on, just black text. Overall I do really like the look of the bottle. It’s classic and elegant, it’s not very young but I do like that about it. I think the packaging is very Lancome and since this is a Lancome product that’s a great thing.

The bottle contains 30 ml of foundation which is the standard amount of product you get in most foundations (and primers). Since you do not need that much product to cover your entire face I don’t think this is a foundation that you’ll run out of quicker than other foundations, but it’s not one that will stay with you for years either.

Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation – €47

One thing I find very disappointing when it comes to this Lancome Teint Idole Foundation is the shade range. It only comes in 15 shades and the lightest one is pretty dang tan. Like 15 shades isn’t that bad, however it’s not impressive either, but the fact that their lightest shade is so dark is just very sad. I personally just don’t understand why a brand would create such dark ‘light’ shades, I don’t think that’s okay because you exclude a lot of people like that, but it’s not something I can change anything about so let’s not get too worked up about it shall we. With a little drop of my favourite Essence Lightening Drops all is okay and it looks great again. On the face-swatches you’re going to see in a second I haven’t used my Essence Lightening Drops to lighten this foundation so it does look a bit darker on those pictures. Please keep that in mind.

Moving on to the claims. According to Lancome their Teint Idole Foundation creates the perfect teint and a comfortable feeling from sunrise to sundown. The foundation is supposed to provide a high coverage and a natural look at the same time. The Teint Idole Ultra Wear takes on any challenge: endless days, temperature changes or excessive sebum production. It’s a loyal protector that will stay in place under all circumstances. It will provide a flawless coverage and a even teint without needing any touch-ups.

Overall Lancome makes it sound like this could be the perfect foundation for the oily-skinned girls out there. It has high coverage, it stays in place no matter what and it lasts all day long. What else could you want in a foundation? I don’t know, I really don’t. But what is more important than claims is those claims being true, because that could be an issue here.

Let’s start off by talking about the texture of this foundation. Whenever I see high-coverage, longlasting foundations like this one I immediately think of thicker and heavier textures, even though that isn’t always the case. In fact most foundations that are full coverage and long wearing that I’ve tried in the past couple of months aren’t thick and heavy at all. This foundation isn’t too thick or heavy either, but it isn’t very fluidy like the Chanel Vitalumière aqua (which I reviewed last week) either. It’s just a very nice texture.

What I like about the texture is that it’s very easy to blend. You can use either a brush or a sponge to blend it, but my personal favourite way to apply this foundation is by using a sponge. That because by using a sponge you can create an even more natural and realistic finish. A sponge takes away the excess product and prevents this foundation from looking cakey or heavy on the skin, which is in my opinion a very important thing. Especially when it comes to this foundation.

The coverage this foundation provides is pretty impressive. I would call it medium to full coverage. If you apply just one light layer with a beautyblender I would say that you’re getting more of a medium coverage out of this product, but if you build it up you can definitely get it towards a more full coverage look. Even though it can be full coverage, I still think that the foundation looks rather natural on the skin. It doesn’t have a very unrealistic matte finish, it’s not heavy, cakey or patchy in any way, it just looks nice and radiant while evening out my skin tone and covering up everything I want to be covered up.

I think you can easily tell that the shade I’m using isn’t a perfect match for me. The Lancome foundations are just way too dark for pale girls like me, but with all of my makeup on top I do think this looks pretty okay. Since I do have lightening drops nowadays I like to mix those in with the foundation to get a more matching shade, but on its own it’s just a lot too dark.

The staying power of the foundation isn’t as disappointing as the shade range. It’s actually pretty amazing. This is definitely one of those foundations that get prettier throughout the day. It becomes more natural and more one with my skin. Overall it lasts all day long, no matter what circumstances your in, this foundation doesn’t budge. On that part Lancome was totally right, this definitely is a fool proof foundation!

Overall I think that the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation is the perfect flawless foundation. It has medium to full buildable coverage, it has a great texture, it feels nice on the skin and is easy to work with, it has a natural look to it and gets prettier throughout the day and it stays in place all day long, no matter what. If that isn’t impressive I don’t know what is. I absolutely adore this foundation!

That’s everything for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know what you think of this foundation and also let me know which foundation is your current favourite!
