A long, long time ago I ordered some products by the brand Kiko. Kiko is and has always been one of my favourite makeup brands. Their products aren’t crazy expensive and most of the time they are really amazing. Today I’m going to review my first ever Kiko foundation, the Universal Fit Hydrating Foundation. If you’re interested in finding out more about this foundation, make sure you continue reading!
First things first, the packaging. The Kiko Universal Fit Hydrating Foundation comes in a skintone coloured tube with a black cap. The packaging is very clean and simple and I really like it. It actually reminds me of the packaging of the MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation.
The Kiko Universal Fit Hydrating Foundation comes in many, many shades. There has to be a shade for everyone. I bought it in the shade 15 Warm Beige which was, at the time I bought it, the lightest shade available.
On the back of the tube Kiko briefly describes what you can expect from this foundation. It says the following:
“Fluid foundation with moisturising, emollient active
ingredients, for a flawless complexion all day long”.
I have combination to oily skin so hydrating is not something I specifically look for in a foundation. But if it does claim to be hydrating it doesn’t mean it’s definitely not a foundation for me. In this case it’s actually a good choice for me. Even though this foundation claims to be hydrating, it’s actually very dry. It has a super matte finish and even on my oily skin it feels and looks patchy.
The texture of the foundation feels really nice. It’s thin, it’s light weight. It seemed to be the perfect product for me. However, it’s incredibly hard to blend this foundation nicely. It’s very dry and super thin. The texture is almost similar to a liquid lipstick. It dries down real quick and when it does it won’t move. The only way you can make it work is by working real, real quick.
Coverage wise I’m not a fan either. This foundation is very sheer. I would call it light coverage. It you build it up a little it might become medium, but nothing more than that. I don’t have terrible skin but for me this really isn’t enough.
Overall I’m just not a fan of this foundation. It’s super dry, it’s almost impossible to blend nicely and it doesn’t really provide any coverage. I don’t know if it’s just because I have a faulty one or because it really is a terrible foundation, but for me this isn’t it.
The Kiko Universal Fit Hydrating Foundation is available online and in stores for €5,90.
That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post and let me know which foundation really disappointed you!
