Recently I placed my first ever order on Cultbeauty. I’ve been looking around the store for a while and I’ve been wanting to order some Jouer goodies forever. But the main product I wanted to order was sold out every time I looked so I ended up having to wait quite a while. Recently when it was back in stock I ordered it along with some other goodies. One of those other goodies is this Jouer Long-Wear Lip Crème Liquid Lipstick. Those of you who’ve been reading my blog for a while know that I’m everything but a fan of liquid lipstick, but I ended up getting it anyway because it just looked so pretty and I really wanted to get out of my comfort zone again. Anyway, today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out more about this gorgeous looking liquid lipstick, make sure you continue reading!
Let’s start off by talking about the packaging. The Jouer Long-Wear Lip Crème Liquid Lipstick (what a mouth full) comes in a pretty simplistic yet pretty packaging. The tube itself is made out of clear plastic with some sort of slit on one side. I don’t really know what that is for but that’s okay. According for my boyfriend that slit is there so you can stack your Jouer liquid lipsticks on top of each other which does sound pretty logical actually, but I’m not sure whether that’s true or not. Anyway, the lid has a quite a pretty colour. It seems black at first but it also has a bit of brown to it which in my opinion looks really luxurious.
Overall I really like the packaging. I think it’s designed really well and it just looks very luxurious. It’s not too big either which is very efficient and therefore a very good thing and overall I’m just a big fan of it. The tube contains 6ml of product which seems like a reasonable amount to me and since you don’t need a ton of product per application I think this tube will last me for quite some time.
Jouer Long-Wear Lip Crème Liquid Lipstick – £15/€17
Moving on to the product itself. It’s called a Lip Crème, which suggests that this product has a nice and creamy texture. It also made me think that it might actually not be incredibly dry. According to Jouer this is a weightless, non-drying and phenomenally long-wearing liquid lipstick that is full coverage, pigment-rich. It’s supposed to dry smooth with a soft-touch finish. The soft doe foot applicator has a tapered tip for fuss-free application and it only takes moments to apply. When it has dried down it’s supposed to stay in place and never leave a trace behind.
All together it sounds like the perfect liquid lipsticks. Some of you might know that I’m not the biggest fan of liquid lipstick at all because I terribly hate that dry feeling on my lips, so it’s quite surprising that I actually bought one. The reason why I did it is still a little unclear to me, but I’m glad I decided to step out of my comfort zone and try something I’d normally wouldn’t. Maybe it turns out to be great!
So, let’s start off by talking about the texture, which is the most important thing to me. It definitely shouldn’t be too drying. I don’t care if it’s super matte or not because I’m not that into matte lips, but I’m okay with it if it turns out to be super matte. As long as it’s not drying. This liquid lipstick is on the edge. It’s not the driest of them all, definitely not. It’s not dry in a way it’s hard to apply, but it’s definitely not moisturising either and it is important to really scrub your lips before applying it since if will accentuate those dry patches a little when it dries down. Still it doesn’t accentuate them as much as I thought it would, but it still does it so that is something you should keep in mind when you’re using it.
But for some reason the dryness of this liquid lipstick doesn’t bother me as much as I expected. I’m still not in love with it to be completely honest with you guys, but I do like that it stays in place much better which is why I’m okay with it. Talking about staying in place, this product does do a pretty good job at it. However, if it’s not fully dried or if you have recently licked your lips it might transfer a little tiny bit, but only and insignificant amount. So on that part this lipstick is doing great!
I’m sorry for the flakey lips
Moving on to pigmentation. On that part it’s doing great as well. This product is, like they said, very pigmented. It only needs one layer of product to fully cover up the lips that’s not something all liquid lipsticks are capable of. Aside from that it’s also not streaky at all. It’s actually incredibly smooth to apply. It just glides on like a dream. The applicator definitely helps with that, but it’s also the smooth and creamy texture that makes it possible.
I’ve already told you guys that it doesn’t transfer onto anything, but I haven’t talked about the staying power yet. Liquid lipsticks are known for being very long lasting. Once they dry down they stay wherever you put them. This one is no exception to that. Once you put it on and it sets, it’s locked. It will stay in place for hours. It will wear off little by little when you eat, drink, kiss and talk, but it’s a slow proces.
Overall this liquid lipstick exceeded my expectations. I wasn’t a big fan of liquid lipstick at first, but this isn’t just a liquid lipstick. Because it’s a little more on the creamy side it feels way more comfortable on the lips and it looks a lot better. I also really like that the colour pay off is very intense and that it’s so long wearing.
So if you’d ask whether or not I think the claims Jouer makes are true, I’d say she isn’t lying at all. I agree with everything she’s saying. Obviously the claims are a little exaggerated, but when it comes down to it I can’t say they’re not true.
Overall I’m actually really happy I decided to buy this Long-Wear Lip Crème Liquid Lipstick. It’s something I’d normally never buy and it’s definitely outside of my comfort zone, but it’s a really great product that I ended up really liking. I absolutely love the colour, the formula is really well made, the product comes in a gorgeous packaging and the quality of this liquid lipstick is just amazing. If you’re a liquid lipstick fan or if you’re just on the hunt for one, you might want to check this one out!
And that pretty much concludes today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of this liquid lipstick and if you’re familiar with the brand Jouer in general!
