One of the products I received in my January LF Beauty Box is this Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes Mascara. I was in desperate need of a new mascara so I was glad to find it in this box. Because I was so desperate for a new mascara I started using it right away. After testing it for a while I feel like it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out how I ended up liking this mascara, make sure you continue reading!
The Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lashes mascara comes in a very simple red packaging. Shape wise it kind of reminds me of these old Rimmel London mascara’s I used to use back in the day. I loved them a ton back then! But that’s not the point. Back to the packaging. It has a fairly basic shape and it has nothing really special to it. Overall I do think it’s okay. I mean it could be better, it could be worse.
The wand of this mascara is pretty simple too. It’s curled and made of synthetic hairs. It’s not my favourite brush in the world, but as long as the formula of the product is right, I can look past that. The size of the brush is pretty okay. It’s not huge but it’s not super tiny either. It’s just fine.
So, onto the claims. Jelly Pong Pong claims that this mascara curls the lashes continually throughout the day. They say that the unique brush will create dramatic volume and intense definition, allowing the eyelashes to remain spectacularly soft and light at the same time. It should be a fabulous effect for women who want to emphasize a deep, intense, seductive look.
Well if that doesn’t sound promising to you, I don’t know what does. Sadly I’m not agreeing with these claims at all. I don’t know if it’s just me or the bottle I got, but from what I’ve seen and experienced this mascara is nothing near what Jelly Pong Pong claims it to be.
First of all the formula is very dry and particularly flakey. My whole desk and hands were covered in black flakes after using this mascara. This happened literally every time I used this mascara. If it would’ve given me great results I might have been able to look past that, but because the results aren’t amazing either I just think it’s a very annoying feature.
Because the mascara is so dry it doesn’t really do anything for my lashes. It does make them a little more black and defined, but it’s nowhere near dramatic or intense. Not even a little bit close. It’s a very soft and natural effect. If you layer a couple of coats you can get it to look a little more intense, but overall it looks very soft and natural. Not the look I’m going for and especially not if I’m using a mascara that claims to be dramatic and intense.
The only claim that I do agree with is that it keeps your lashes soft and light. But in this case I don’t think that’s a good thing. They are this soft and light because there is hardly any product on them. There’s literally only a little tiny bit of blackness to be seen. I’m seriously so disappointed in this mascara!
When it comes to staying intense all day I’m not very positive either. This is already a very soft and natural mascara, and throughout the day it loses its intensity even more and more. At the end of the day you can hardly even tell that I’m wearing mascara at all.
Overall I’m very disappointed in this mascara. I was happy to see this month’s box came with a mascara because I really needed a new one, but this one just isn’t it for me. The results are very, very natural and the formula isn’t my favourite either. If you’re looking for something very soft and natural this might be it, but if you’re looking for anything else than that, you might not want to buy this!
The Jelly Pong Pong Fairy Lash Mascara is available at their site for $26,34.
That was it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of this mascara and which one you’d recommend!
XOXO, Nicole.
