It’s the end of January and that does mean a couple of things. But most importantly it means that it’s time for another favourites post. January usually is a month in which I get quite a lot of shopping done and so is December. Thanks to that I have been trying a ton of new and exciting products throughout the month of January. I’ve fallen in love with Lush even more than I did in December and I’ve tried so many of their products. I’ve also discovered some makeup and skincare products that I’m sure will stick around in the long run and a lot more. So, if you’re interested in reading about what kept me going in January, make sure you continue reading this post!
The first product I want to talk about is a skincare product. This is the Nivea MicellAIR Skin Breathe Expert Micellair Makeup Remover. What a mouth full, right? Anyway, I’m normally not a big fan of these drugstore skincare brands. Don’t get me wrong, I have used them for a long time and they’re definitely not all bad. But I just prefer using things from more premium brands. I don’t know why, that’s just me. Don’t judge me for it. Anyway, when I saw this popping up a lot in commercials I did get interested in it. Somehow I was really impressed by how it performed on the people in the ad, even though I know those results usually aren’t real. Long story short: I ended up buying it anyway just so I could give it a try for myself.
And that’s exactly what I did. And to my surprise, I fell completely in love with it. This is literally one of the best makeup removers I have tried so far. I just need two cotton pads and a bit of this to remove all of my makeup. A full face of makeup. Everything gone. It removes all of the little bits of makeup that other removers might have left on your skin and it makes my skin feel incredibly soft. I don’t know how it does it, but this is the most amazing thing I have ever tried. Especially considering the reasonable price point and the fact that you can get it on sale most of the time, I think this is amazing!
Moving on to a new primer I tried out throughout December and January, the Nars Pore & Shine Control Primer. I actually haven’t had the time yet to review it, but I absolutely love this guy. I ordered it because for once I wanted to try something more mattifying for primer. And this one seemed pretty much perfect. I really don’t like a primer with a silicone feel and therefore this one is great. It has more of a lotion-like consistency and therefore it’s really easy to spread across your face. It does leave your skin feeling nice and matte and it does refine pores a bit. I do feel like it makes sure my makeup stays on for longer and that it controls my oil-production throughout the entire day. I love it for that.
My next favourite is actually a rediscovery. It’s the Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturiser. It’s a very famous product and I know why. I loved it when I just got it, but somehow I forgot about it a bit. But, when I got ill this month and I did have to go places, I started using it again. I was looking for something lightweight that wasn’t going to bother my sick face too much and this ended up being perfect. Even though it is a tinted moisturiser it does cover up all of my imperfections and it really smoothes my complexion. It leaves me with even, smooth and natural looking skin and in addition to that it’s super lightweight and comfortable to wear. I really love this foundation!
This month I also discovered some brush favourites. I bought a couple of MAC makeup brushes at the end of November and my boyfriend gifted me one for Christmas. The one he gifted me is by far my favourite of the bunch, it’s the MAC 286 Synthetic Duo Fibre Tapered Brush. It looks a lot like my beloved Zoeva 229 Eye Finish Brush, but that one has gotten a bit old over time. I do feel like this MAC brush is definitely a step up though. It’s super soft and it does the most amazing job at blending my eyeshadow. I’m really obsessed with this right now.
Two other MAC eye brushes that I fell in love with are the MAC 239S Eye Shader Brush and the MAC 228S Mini Shader Brush. Both brushes feel really nice and soft and they work amazingly. I was actually impressed by how much I ended up liking the eye shader, since it’s a bit more stiff than I’m used to. But it has really won me over. Both brushes feel super well made and I use them on a daily basis these days. Reviews will be up soon!
The last MAC brush that I have fallen in love with is the MAC 188S Small Duo Fibre Face Brush. I love using this to apply my contour powder with. It allows me to have so much control, to disperse the product evenly and to not go overboard with it. It’s a great addition to my collection!
Back in December I started to fall in love with Lush, and this love has grown throughout the month of January. I stop by the store almost weekly these days and I never leave without a little something. The main thing I have fallen in love with are their bubble bars. In all shapes and sizes. I think that they work great and are the best value for money. My favourite so far is the Magic Wand. It’s super big, it smells incredible and it gives my bath a pretty pink colour with tons of bubbles.
I’ve also fallen in love with their Snow Fairy Shower Gel and Body Conditioner. Both products have this amazing sweet scent and make me feel so happy. I know this is a scents lots of people love, but also a scent lots of people hate. But I love it. To me this is absolutely incredible. I used to dislike it myself a couple of years ago, but it has grown on me throughout the years. I really want to cover myself in this all day long.
There are a lot more Lush products on trial right now, but I think it’s best to stop here, otherwise this will become a very long Lush post and we don’t need that right now.
Lastly I have a rediscovery and a new love from Chanel. Those who know me, know that I do love Chanel makeup. I think they create the best products ever and I love the luxurious vibe they have. My rediscovery is the Chanel Les Beiges Poudre Belle Mine Ensoleillée. This is a gorgeous bronzer they make and it has the most amazing formula. The powder is super soft, easy to apply and super blendable. I think that the colour is just right for my skin tone. It creates a super natural bronzed, sun-kissed look without being too much. It’s such an easy and quick product to work with so for me it’s totally worth the splurge!
The other Chanel favourite of the month is the Chanel Le Volume De Chanel Mascara. I think this is one of the most well-known mascara’s in the whole wide world and I totally get why. It works so much better than literally any other mascara ever. Okay, I still love the Chanel Dimensions De Chanel Mascara just as much, but this Le Volume De Chanel Mascara is just incredible. It adds so much volume to the lashes without making it look clumpy or too much. It’s a whole other level of pretty and therefore I have decided that, once I finish all of my back-up mascara’s from other brands, I won’t be purchasing other mascara’s anymore. It’s Chanel only for me from now on. They just make the best mascara’s ever.
With that being said I have covered all of my favourites from January. This was a very makeup-succesful month for me and I hope February will be just as great. Thank you so much for reading today’s post and be sure to let me know which products you have been loving throughout January!
Brrr, Snow Fairy.
Toffe favorieten! Snow fairy blijft nog altijd mijn favoriete Lush geur!!
Ik ben ook een grote SnowFairy fan! Ik word er altijd meteen goedgezind van 🙂
