High-End Makeup I Just Don’t Reach For

18/12/2016

Sometimes you buy a gorgeous piece of luxury makeup and you imply on using it ever single day for the rest of your life. Sometimes this actually happens, but in some cases the opposite will happen and the product you thought was going to be your most used product ever, ends up being a product you never really use. Today I’m going to discuss those products with you guys. If you’re interested in finding out which high-end makeup I just don’t reach for and why I don’t reach for it, make sure you continue reading!

Let’s start off with the first product: the Too Faced Shadow Insurance. I bought this last summer because it was literally one of the highest rated eyeshadow primers ever for the longest time. Ever since I started doing makeup I heard about this being amazing and I just wanted to give it a try.

The reason why I just don’t gravitate towards it is because I feel like it’s just hard to work with since half of what comes out is water and the other half is actually product. The product itself is easy to blend but when you put on a little too much it starts to look weird and it’s just not worth it. So that’s a bummer..

Next up is the Laura Mercier Silk Finish foundation. I bought this last summer as well since I heard so many good things about the brand Laura Mercier. I have to say that this is not a bad product and I don’t not use it because of that. The main reason why I don’t use it that often is actually quite similar to the reason why I don’t use my Too Faced Shadow Insurance that much.

It’s hard to work with. If you forget to shake and tap before use the product will be extremely yellow. Because it’s so yellow you have to blend really well. Because it dries down quite quickly you have to work really fast and because it’s not the highest covering foundation I personally want two layers of it and that just takes so much time.

The next high-end item I just don’t use is the Marc Jacobs Shameless blush in the shade Irresistible. This is one of the most luxury blushes I own, but for some reason I just don’t gravitate towards it. When it comes to this blush I honestly really don’t know why I don’t use it that often. I do think it’s stunning, the colour is pretty and it looks good with many looks.

It’s also not a difficult product to work with, which is one of the main reasons I usually stop using something, and it doesn’t have anything else to it that I don’t like.

Onto the next item. Back when I got it I was so excited about it. It’s my one and only Chanel lipstick in the shade Melodieuse. I think it’s absolutely stunning. It might be a bright colour, but bright colours like this one are my absolute favourites and I love wearing them.

The texture of this product is not the reason why I don’t use it. It’s because of the way it wears off. It’s a gorgeous lipstick, the quality is amazing. But when it starts to fade, only the insides will fade and the lining of your lips will stay bright coral. Because it’s such a bright lipstick this just doesn’t look good and because I  don’t trust myself when it comes to touching up on time, I hardly ever decide to use this.

The last products I want to discuss are these MAC eyeshadows. I do like MAC eyeshadows. I don’t love them, but they are definitely high quality and nice to work with. Back in the day I bought a few mono’s by MAC and I loved them to pieces. I even one day decided I wanted to fill a palette with them, but I never ended up finishing that project.

Anyway, the thing it I don’t use them anymore. And that’s not because they’re not stunning or low quality. It’s because they’re mono’s. There are so many palettes nowadays and it’s so much easier to create a look using a palette since the colours that are selected will probably look good together, you don’t have to think about it. When you use mono’s you do, and most of the time I’m just way too lazy for that.

And that’s pretty much everything for today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know which (high-end) products you just don’t use anymore!

XOXO, Nicole.

Wat een origineel en leuk artikel om te lezen. Ik begrijp je reden helemaal als ik het zo lees waarom je het niet gebruikt. En echt je bent vast niet de enige 😉 Wel zonde dat deze producten het toch nét niet zijn.
