Happy new year everyone! I hope you had an amazing new years’ eve last night and I hope all of you can rest today and do absolutely nothing like you should on the first of January. The past year, 2017, has been an incredibly busy and hectic year for me with a lot of great moments and also some less great ones. But since it’s the first of January and we’re kicking off a new year it seemed like a great idea for me to talk about my happy moments of 2017 and quickly forget about those less happy moments. So if you’re interested in finding out what made my 2017 a great year, make sure you continue reading!
Lille
One of my favourite memories of 2017 is by far my trip to Lille with my mom. For some reason I’ve always wanted to go to Lille and this year I finally went there with my mom. My mom is by far one of my favourite persons to go on vacation with because we always have a lot of fun and she’s just the most terrific shopping partner you could ever imagine. She spots the deals like no other girl!
Aside from the fact that I really enjoyed going there with my mum I also really liked the city. It wasn’t too busy but it was crowded enough to feel alive. Our hotel was right next to the biggest mall in the city and I bought a lot of gorgeous items. I went to pretty every French pharmacy there was!
Warsaw
Another great memory of 2017 was my trip to Warsaw with my best friend Charlotte. Last year we went to Krakow together and this year we decided to go bigger. We went to Warsaw. Warsaw is a pretty large city and it has a lot to offer. A lot of malls. It was literally the most amazing shopping week of my life. I’ve seen more Sephora’s in a week than I had in my life and I have bought so many gorgeous pieces of makeup there. Clothing-wise it was a very effective week too. Charlotte is more of a fashion girl than a makeup girl so she always knows how to get me to buy great pieces of clothing.
But it wasn’t just shopping. We also ate a lot of stuff, including a way too spicy pizza that actually made me sick. But also a lot of good stuff like garlic bread, white chocolate gelato and whatnot. We also had a lot of fun spending that trip together and we talked our vocal cords out of our throats. All together I really enjoyed that week and I can’t wait to spend another week like that with her in 2018!
Boyfriend
My boyfriend and I didn’t go on vacation together in 2017, but that doesn’t mean we didn’t have a lot of fun together. You know what I like so much about him, we always have fun even if we’re not doing anything at all. To me that’s the most important quality in a boyfriend. I can talk to him about literally everything, whether it’s a difficult topic or something completely useless, he’s always there to listen to my blabbering without getting tired of it and I appreciate that a lot. And I also really appreciate all of the pizza’s you’ve ordered for me.Â
But my favourite moments with him are all of the times we went out for dinner. We love going to restaurants together and so we have eaten at a lot of places. And of course, if you go to restaurants often, you’ll end up experiencing a lot of funny moments. Like that time we wanted to toast and I actually broke my glass. Or that time we were in a restaurant with very, very loud people. Sweet, sweet Thijs, you really made my year a whole lot better. I love you more than pizza!
Family
Those who know me well know that I’m pretty close with my grandparents and mother, but especially with my grandfather. He’s just the most amazing man I’ve met in my entire life and he’s definitely the star of my year. Whenever I’m free from school or home early we lunch together. I always eat a grilled sandwich with cheese and salami and he eats whatever my grandma puts in his bag. After eating our lunch we always play cards for about two hours and after that we go live our lives again. It’s just a simple thing but I really enjoy these moments. Sadly I’ve been so busy at school lately we hardly have time for our lunches, but I hope that in 2018 we’ll have a lot more of our lunches.
And then we have my mom. My mom and I are two weird women that enjoy a very strange sense of humor. But I love it. I love our terrible jokes and those bad puns. I also love that we can talk about everything and that I can tell her the gossips I’m not allowed to tell anybody else.
Friends
And of course my friends. They made my year amazing from start to end. I can be a bit of a grumpy cat from time to time, but my friends are always there to cheer me up or grump with me. Whatever we’re doing, whether we’re at school, studying, out shopping or just sipping our coke’s and gossiping about whatever there is to gossip about, I really enjoy the time I spend with you guys and that made my 2017 a really happy year!
Of course there have been a lot more great moments in my 2017, but it’s just too much to fit into one post. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading about my amazing 2017 and be sure to let me know which moments made your 2017!
