Get Clump-Free Lashes And Strong Brows With The NYC Show Time Clump-Free Mascara & Brow Styling Gel

24/03/2017

There are two things I just don’t like buying: mascara and brow gel. Both are essentials in my routine, but just not my favourites to buy. Therefore I do really like finding budget proof alternatives so at least I don’t have to spend too much money on it. Today I’m going to review two budget proof products by the brand NYC. I’m going to be talking about their Show Time Clump Free Mascara and their Show Time Brow Styling Gel. If you’re interested in finding out more about these products, make sure you continue reading!

The NYC Show Time Clump-Free Mascara comes in a neon green packaging with silver letters on it. It’s really bright and out there and I like that about it. It’s definitely not a mascara that gets lost in your makeup bag, that’s one thing I know for sure. The mascara tube is pretty long and slim and looks just very sleek and nice.

So, enough about the packaging, let’s move onto the product itself. Before I go into detail about the wand, let’s first quickly go over the claims. According to NYC this mascara is very easy to apply because it’s clump free. It’s also supposed to be volumising

With that being said, let’s move on to the wand. This mascara comes with one of those rubbery spiky ones, my favourite kind. It has a bit of a curve to it and it isn’t too big. By just looking at it I can already tell I’m probably going to like what this mascara does for me. The brush is very separating, it really is a clump-free mascara, but it does allow you to get enough volume. It really does. Because it’s not as big the application of the mascara goes very smoothly without any smudges whatsoever. I like it! I like it a lot!

When it comes to the formula of the mascara I’m pretty positive, but I’m not extremely positive. The formula is rather wet. Therefore you really have to make sure your first coat has properly dried before you apply the next to prevent your lashes from sticking together. If that does happen the amazing brush is capable of separating the lashes again, but it just isn’t an ideal situation.

On the lashes this mascara looks pretty amazing. My lashes look intensely black, they are volumized and they are separated. This mascara really gives me everything I’m looking for in a mascara. I’m really impressed by it. Until recently I was totally into high-end mascara. I hadn’t touched a budget proof one in ages. But to be honest, this is just as amazing as all of those 30 Euro mascara’s, it really is!

As for staying power I can say I’m very positive. I have struggled with severe panda-eyes a while ago but this mascara doesn’t give me that. It also doesn’t loose its volume throughout the day and it doesn’t crumble off of my lashes. Overall the staying power is great!

Onto the NYC Show Time Brow Styling Gel. I really like brow gel, I don’t know why, I just do. This one comes in a really pretty packaging. The bottom part is black and has silver letters on it, and the top part is dark brown. It’s very simple, it’s not too bulky but it does look really fun and pretty. It just looks good!

This Show Time Brow Styling Gel is available in different shades, which means it’s a tinted brow gel. A tinted brow gel basically means that instead of just being a clear gel, it also has a tint to it. Thanks to this tint the gel can make your brows look even fuller and more perfected. I’m a big fan of it personally. The shade I got is called 002 Medium/Deep. This one is perfect for people with medium brown to darker hair colours. It’s also available in a lighter shade which is perfect for people with lighter hair colours.

The brow gel comes with a tiny little wand. Even though the wand isn’t the most important thing, it does matter. A too big and bulky wand can make the application of the gel really tricky and since it’s a tinted brow gel you do want to be very precise with it. You don’t want brown smudges all around your brows, do you?

The wand of this brow gel is actually perfect. It’s small, it allows you to be in control and to apply it very precisely and it doesn’t have too much product on it. In my experience having too much product on the wand only causes disasters. You don’t want a big blob of brown in your brows, you want it to be evenly divided and separated. This brush allows you to do that which is really nice!

The texture of the gel is amazing too. It’s not too thick or too thin. It’s also not sticky at all. It’s basically just perfect. Like I said it’s not one of those gels that adds way too much products to your brows which would make your brows look very harsh and literally hard and breakable. It’s actually very soft and natural looking. It does set your brows into place and keeps them there during the day, but it’s not a crunchy product.

The amount of colour pay off is pretty much perfect. It’s not too sheer but it’s not very overwhelming either. It’s also buildable so if you do want it to be a little more intense you definitely can get it there, that’s totally up to you. It’s even pigmented enough to do your brows with just this product on its own.

Here’s an picture of the product in my brows. Before we get into anything let me apologise for the way my brows look. I definitely have to pluck them, I really do, but I haven’t gotten to it yet. With that being said let’s go back to the review. As you can tell the gel really added some colour to my brows. They are a little darker and somewhat more defined. The brows still have that natural look to them, but with just a little bit more colour. I really like the way it looks!

When it comes to staying power I have nothing negative to say about this product. It just stays in place all day, it keeps my brows in place all day and that’s great. I’m impressed!

Overall I’m very impressed by both products. The mascara has a great wand and makes my lashes look fabulous. The brow gel has a nice tint to it, has the perfect formula and is able to keep my brows in place all day. All together I’m a fan of both products and if you’re looking for a budget-proof mascara or brow gel, you might want to check these out!

NYC is available at Kruidvat

That was it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of these two products!

XOXO, Nicole.
