Fragrance Your Room With The Rituals The Ritual Of Sakura Scented Candle

05/02/2019

For my birthday my very best friend gifted me something I’ve been meaning to buy myself for so long: a Rituals candle. She always raves about these candles and this made me want to try one really bad. They’re supposed to smell super good and super strong and she always tells me that the Rituals candles last forever. All good things. And now she got me one. The one she gifted me has the Ritual of Sakura scent and that’s one of my absolute favourites. I’ve been burning it for a while now and therefore it’s time for me to review it. If you’re interested in finding out whether or not the Rituals candles are worth the splurge, make sure you continue reading this post!

The Rituals candles all come in these really fancy boxes. I have to say that the fact that it comes in a box already makes it like ten times more fancy to me. The box is actually very well made and feels really sturdy. I’m pretty sure I’ll hang on to it and re-use it in the future for like a pencil holder or something like that. It’s just so adorable.

Okay, enough about the dang box. It’s just a box Nicole, it’s not that big of a deal. I know it’s strange how a women can feel so many things about a simple box. But it just brings me joy alright. Don’t judge me. Enjoy the little things they say, right? Okay, that’s even more rambling. Let’s start talking about the candle. The candle comes in a big, heavy glass jar. Since this candle is from the Ritual Of Sakura collection the main colours are white and pink. The glass is white and the candle itself is pink. On the front of the glass it does say something, but it’s not super noticeable. I think it will be more visual when you’ve burned the candle down to that point and the light of the candle shines through it. But that’s jut an assumption, I’m not that far just yet.

Like I said the candle is pretty big. It’s heavy as well and it weighs 290 grams. That is a lot if you ask me. On the website they tell us it burns up to 50 hours. That’s a long time as well. I know that these candles might be a bit more pricy than a candle you can get at a normal store, but to me this does make it worth it. Okay this was a gift, so I didn’t pay for it myself, but in the future I’d definitely buy another one myself.

Rituals The Ritual Of Sakura Scented Candle 290 gr – €19,50

According to Rituals their Ritual Of Sakura Scented Candle is composed of 70% natural wax. That’s a nice claim. I’m not an expert when it comes to candles and wax and I’m not a scientist, but it sounds good to me. According to the little research I did on this subject, natural wax is better for the environment and for your health. If that’s true, I do think it’s really important to look out for that. I’m always careful when burning candles, not just with setting things on fire but I’m also aware of my health.

I know that most of you already know this, but when you’re burning candles carbon monoxide comes into the room and this can cause serious problems. I once experienced the first signs of a carbon monoxide intoxication and it felt terrible. Therefore I always make sure there’s fresh air coming in the room while burning candles either by opening some doors or a window or both and I don’t burn too many at once. It’s really important guys. If you feel like you’re getting dizzy, a headache or feel nauseous you know something isn’t right and you really need to put the candle out. Be really aware of that, please.

Okay enough about the little teach-talk, moving on to the claims Rituals makes regarding this candle. Rituals lets us know that this is a luxurious scented candle. The scent is based on the renewing fragrance of cherry blossom and organic rice milk. When you read that I’m pretty sure you don’t have a single clue what that combination smells like. Let’s be real here, it’s not like you’re now like ‘aah, rice milk, delish’. And if you are, props to you.

If I had to describe the scent in my own words I’d say it smells very soft and cosy. It’s like a rich and creamy scent with a bit of sweetness to it and a touch of flowers. It’s a scent that makes you feel fresh yet cosy at the same time, clean. The candle reminds me of the feeling when you just did a thorough showering session and you’re in your freshly washed pyjama and your clean bed. Not that it smells like laundry or something like that, but I feel like that feeling describes the essence of this scent. Now that I’m typing this I’m realising my description is even more vague than the one Rituals gave us.

Anyway, to me this scent is really amazing. It’s one of the first scent-ranges I ever discovered at Rituals and therefore it does hold a dear place in my heart. I think it’s a scent that is very universal, a scent everybody will like. Some Rituals scents are very specific but this one is a safe bet. So if you’re going to gift a Rituals candle to someone or if you’re ordering it for yourself online and you’re not familiar with the Rituals scents, this is a safe and good way to go. Because the fact that it’s universal doesn’t mean it’s not flipping amazing.

In terms of quality I actually think that this candle is really amazing. We all know these scented candles that actually don’t really smell like anything or not as strong when you’re burning it. Well I can promise you that’s not going to be the case with this one. This candle smells. Not in a way it will give you a headache, but in a good way. It does fill the room with a fresh and lovely scent right after setting it ‘on fire’. I don’t know how you call that in English, but when you’re like ‘turning it on’. Lighting. I meant lighting it. Right from the moment you light it.

I also like that when you stop burning the candle the scent will still linger in your room for quite some time. How long this last obviously depends on how big or small the room is and how many doors and windows are opened. But in general it does last a good couple of yours.

All in all I really, really enjoy this Rituals The Ritual Of Sakura Candle. I think it’s a really fancy candle and the scent is just super amazing. It’s perfect. I like the balance it has between having a strong scent but not something too intriguing. In terms of quality it’s also really great. It lasts forever and it all looks really good. I definitely think this is an amazing candle and it brings me much more joy than a regular candle, thanks to which I think this is really worth it for me.

With that being said I think it’s about time to end today’s post. Thank you guys so much for reading it and be sure to let me know if you’ve ever burned a luxury candle like this one!

Wat een heerlijk cadeau! Heb nog nooit een kaars van Rituals gehad, maar ik kan me voorstellen dat dat echt zo’n item is wat je niet snel voor jezelf koopt en daarom juist heel leuk is om cadeau te krijgen.
