When I sleep over at someone else’s place my makeup usually turns out looking awful. Because I know that, I always take a few products with me I know are fool-proof. Products that don’t require too much skill in order to make them work and to make them look good. Today I’m going to show you which products are fool-proof for me. If you’re interested in finding out, make sure you continue reading!
Let’s go from start to finish shall we? The most fool-proof foundation I currently own has to be the Chanel Perfection Lumiere foundation. I know I have talked about it way too much already, but it’s just worth the fuzz. This foundation looks good even if you forget to blend half of it and even if you apply it using your hands. Literally nothing could go wrong when using this foundation. Therefore I think it’s perfect for on the go!
The thing that makes a foundation fool-proof in my eyes, and the thing that makes this foundation so fool-proof, is the fact that it matches my skintone really well and the fact that it doesn’t need much attention while blending it in. You could blend it in while sleeping and it still wouldn’t look bad. So if you are looking for a fool-proof foundation I would recommend looking at that: if it tends to look patchy or blotchy when it hasn’t been blended in that well or if it isn’t the perfect match for your skintone, it probably won’t be fool-proof.
For concealer I usually go for the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer or the Lancome Long Lasting Softening Concealer. The Collection concealer is perfect because it provides quite a lot of coverage and it’s a bit lighter than my skintone so it will brighten the under eye area very well. This way you don’t have to go in with a highlighting product as well, because that stuff is way too tricky when you’re not doing your makeup using great lightening!
The Lancome concealer is perfect because it’s exactly the same colour as my skintone and therefore it won’t look weird it I forget to blend a part of it. Aside from that it’s perfect because you can put it all over your face, which I wouldn’t recommend doing if you’re using a lighter concealer, and therefore you can’t really go wrong with it.
Brow-wise I feel like the Benefit Goof-Proof Brow Pencil is the most perfect fool-proof brow product. Because of its slanted shape it’s very easy to create the shape of brows and it works really quickly. It doesn’t require a lot of precision and it’s not overly pigmented so you won’t end up walking around with way too dark brows if you go a little overboard during the application process.
If you’re new to makeup and any brow product is too risky for you, the most fool-proof brow product I’d recommend would be the Essence Make Me Brow eyebrow gel. This because it’s still quite pigmented and it will give your brows a nice and full look, but it won’t be hard to apply so you can hardly go wrong with it.
Onto eyeshadow. Of course for people who aren’t that into makeup eyeshadow can always be a risky thing. In that case I’d recommend using a very neutral palette or a palette with little pigmentation. For those of you who are a little more skilled I’d really recommend the Stila Eyes Are The Window palettes.
I personally really like taking those palettes with me because they contain quite a few colours and they are very neutral and perfect for everyday. Aside from that I use these palettes almost every single day so I kinda mastered the look I usually create with this so it’s less likely that I will mess up my eyeshadow when I use this.
Onto bronzer and blush. For those two I’d recommend not using too pigmented products. If you’re somewhere where the lighting is quite poorly it could happen that you go a little overboard with these products and you will end up with stripes all over your face.
My favourite natural and not too pigmented (but pigmented enough) products for sculpting the face and applying blush to my cheeks are these two Inglot powders. They are very safe products that, I think, are impossible to go overboard with and therefore perfect if you want to go for a fool-proof makeup product look.
Lastly for lipstick I have two recommendations. You either take a very natural shade with you, one you know looks good on you and you know it’s not that dangerous to apply. OR you bring a very bright lipstick.
The reason why I’d recommend using a very bright lipstick is because: if, even though you’ve used fool-proof products, you still mess something up, you can just go ahead and apply a bright lipstick to attract all attention to your lips instead of the messed up part. How smart?!
And that concludes today’s post. Those were all my fool-proof makeup recommendations! I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post and be sure to let me know which products you think are absolutely fool-proof!
XOXO, Nicole.
