For the longest time skin cleansing systems like the Clarisonic are all the rage. Philips has their own one called the Visapure. I have been interested in getting one for quite a while, but since they’re rather expensive I never ended up doing it. Until recently. Recently my skin has been pretty bad again and I was willing to do anything to get it to look better again. So I ordered a Visapure and the next day it arrived. After using it for a couple of days I wanted to share my first impression on it and in about 30 days I will do another update telling you how I ended up liking it in the long run and if it’s actually worth it. Anyway, if you’re interested in finding out what my first impression is, make sure you continue reading!
Design-wise I think the Philips Visapure Essential has a pretty dubious shape. Especially if you store it upside down like you’re meant to. It reminds me of a lot of things that aren’t meant to cleanse your skin with, but okay. The design is very elegant and sleek and it actually looks really good. I also like that it’s nice and slim and not as bulky as the Clarisonic because this is more efficient when it comes to travelling with it and things like that. I also really like the blue colour. It’s very classy and good looking.
When you buy the Visapure Essential you get one brush head with it, the regular kind. It’s a little vague how often you have to put a new one on it since I read you have to do that once every 6 months on their site, but in the little manual they say you have to replace it after 3 months. If you do want to replace it – or if you want a different brush head – you can buy them pretty much everywhere where they sell beauty related products. The replacements aren’t expensive at all, they’re between €10-€20 depending on which one you choose and where you buy it.

For those of you who aren’t familiar with skin cleansing systems I will first explain that. These gadgets are meant for deeper cleansing of the skin. The head twists and vibrates on your skin. You put your regular face wash on the head and go over your skin with it to cleanse it more thorough than you usually would. It actually claims to cleanse 10 times deeper than normal cleansing using your hands, so that’s pretty promising.
The first thing I noticed and I really like about this Visapure is that it has a built in timer. You’re meant to use it one minute and after that minute it stops. But, after every 20 seconds it stops for half a second to let you know you can now switch onto another area of your face so you’re not stuck on the same area for too long. I really like that about it. If this option wouldn’t be there I think I’d use it for way too long and actually end up damaging my skin, so it’s good that this function is there.
This version of the Philips Visapure Essential has one setting. There is a different version – the pink one – which actually has two settings: the soft cleansing setting and the deep cleansing setting if I remembered correctly. From what I’ve heard the second setting, the deep cleansing setting, is the most favourable setting to a lot of youtubers who have tested this tool. The version I have only has the deep cleansing setting, but because everyone says that’s the best setting I don’t really mind I only have that option. Aside from that this setting already is pretty gentle, I feel like even softer isn’t necessary.
Something I was a little hesitant about was how rough it was going to be on my skin. Just by looking at it, it looks pretty rough. The brush head reminds me of an electric toothbrush and those aren’t that soft either. Luckily this is made out of different hairs and therefore a lot softer on the skin. It’s actually not painful at all. It’s very gentle. And if it’s not gentle enough, they also have a softer version of the brush head available so you could buy that if you’d prefer that.
Enough about the device and onto my experience. If I had to describe it in one word I’d say: amazing! This product really wow-ed me. I obviously did expect to like it, otherwise I wouldn’t have spent my money on it, but I didn’t expect it to be this amazing. It’s just a very effective tool. So far it has done an amazing job at actually cleansing the skin and I can also feel that it’s cleansed more thorough. I can also already see the difference.
After using this my skin feels and looks a lot smoother than it did before. It feels a lot less textured and it’s a great base for makeup, but also for skincare. The best thing I’ve noticed so far is that it has made my nose feel and look way smoother than it has ever been. I have quite large pores on my nose and big blackheads, but after using it one day those already got way less visible. I’m really happy about that!
So, so far I think this Philips Visapure Essential is an absolutely amazing tool and definitely an essential in any skincare routine. Of course it’s not a cheap product, but it’s not something you have to buy over and over again. Aside from that I just really notice how well it improves the quality of my skin and I’m really glad that it managed to make my nose more smooth. So far so good. I’ll see you again in about a month for the update!
Thank you so much for reading today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know if you have ever used or still use a skin cleansing system like this, what you think of it and also let me know what points you want me to address the update!
XOXO, Nicole.
