Like most of you probably know already, Rihanna launched her own makeup collection called Fenty Beauty. As a makeup lover I was very excited about the range, especially since the products looked so good and actually pretty luxurious. At first I only ordered the primer and foundation, but not much later I placed another order and bought the lipgloss as well. So, today I’m going to tell you everything there is to know about the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer and I’ll obviously let you know what I think of it. If you’re interested in reading all of that, make sure you continue reading!
First things first, packaging. The Fenty Beauty products all come in gorgeous packagings. They all look very sleek, elegant and luxurious. This lipgloss is no exception. It comes in quite a thick tube, which is a little bit inconvenient when you want to take in with you in your bag, but it is really pretty. The bottom part is clear and has ‘Fenty Beauty’ written on it and the lid has a really pretty rose gold/coppery kind of colour. Overall I just really love the packaging this lipgloss comes in. I know that there are quite some people out there who aren’t the biggest fan of it so it really is just a matter of taste.
The special thing about this lipgloss, or gloss bomb as Rihanna has called it, is that this comes in one shade only, a universal shade. I am not one for universal shades, I don’t believe that one shade can look good on everybody and evne if it does I think you should have options to chose from. However, in this instance I did really like the colour they came out with and so far I’ve not seen anyone this colour doesn’t look good on. Well done Rihanna!
Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Universal Lip Luminizer – €17/£16
So, a universal shade. That’s interesting isn’t it? Well let’s talk about the shade for a minute. The Universal Lip Luminizer from Fenty Beauty has a really pretty reddish nude tone. It’s a combination of the best possible lipgloss colours. I mean I like to wear nudes on my lips most days of the week, but I do like to wear somewhat more exciting nudes. This colour is exactly that. Because it’s a lipgloss it already a bit more wearable since lipglosses usually don’t look at heavy and opaque as lipsticks do and the shiny finish of a lipgloss also helps with making it look more natural. So overall I think this is a very good lipgloss shade. It’s natural but unique and I could definitely see why this could work on any skin tone!
For me this colour is just amazing. I think it’s so flattering on my lips and I don’t mean that in a cocky way. It’s just such a perfect colour, a very unique one too. It’s unlike anything I own and that’s one of the reason why I love it. I also think that it looks incredible with every look I create and I think it always adds that extra pop to the overall look. It’s just everything I look for in a lipgloss and that makes me incredibly happy.
But of course the colour of the gloss isn’t the only factor that decide whether this is an amazing product or not. Other things like texture, wearing time and how comfortable it is matters too. So, let’s talk about that for a second.
According to Rihanna this is the stop-everything, give-it-to-me gloss that feels as good as it looks. The Gloss Bomb is supposed to deliver explosive shine in one perfect rose nude shade which is handpicked by Rihanna herself. One luscious swipe of Gloss Bomb’s XXL wand is supposed to give the lips more to love, while the condition shea butter enriches from within. The lips look instantly fuller and smoother and even though it’s super shiny it’s not the least bit sticky according to Rihanna. The lipgloss is supposed to have an addictive peach-vanilla scent and it should be the ultimate finishing touch to every look.
If that little piece of text doesn’t make this lipgloss sound amazing to you, I don’t know what does. The first thing that stood out to me was the fact that Rihanna claims that this lipgloss isn’t the least bit sticky. Stickiness is my main problem when it comes to lipgloss, so I was extremely curious to find out wether this really isn’t sticky or not.
To my surprise Rihanna is completely right. I was surprised by that because I have heard a lot of brands claim that their lipglosses aren’t sticky, but so far I’ve never tried a lipgloss that actually wasn’t sticky. This lipgloss however really isn’t sticky at all. Instead it has a very soft and smooth feeling to it, a bit creamy almost. It’s so incredibly comfortable and it is a lot less annoying than other lipglosses.
When it comes to pigmentation I think Rihanna did great too. A lipgloss doesn’t need to be extremely pigmented in my opinion, but I do like it to have at least a bit of colour pay off so it won’t look like you’re just wearing saliva on your lips. This lipgloss is just that. It has enough colour in order for you to tell that it’s not just saliva and it has a really pretty sparkle to it as well. The colour is noticeable, but it’s not overpowering and therefore it’s the perfect lipgloss to finish off your look with. It won’t be the main focal point, but it will tie everything together if that makes any sense at all. It’s just the cherry on the pie for me and I love that about it.
I also really enjoy the colour in general. I love the little sparkle in it because it’s not too obvious but it does add this extra touch to the lips. I’m definitely not a glittery girl when it comes to my lips, but in this case I do really like the way it looks.
The last thing I want to discuss when it comes to this lipgloss is the staying power. In general my experience with lipgloss is that they do stay in place very well because of the stickiness. However, this lipgloss is everything but sticky which made me think it would fade much quicker. Luckily that isn’t the case. In fact this lipgloss does stay in place incredibly well. Of course it does transfer onto anything you touch with your lips and it’s not the most long lasting product in the world, but generally speaking this lipgloss does stay put for about 3 to 4 hours and that ain’t bad in my opinion.
Overall I’m just really impressed by this Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb. I used to hate wearing lipgloss but this product really changed my mind about that. I love how pretty the colour is and how well it looks on literally everyone. I’m also very happy about the fact that this lipgloss just isn’t sticky, not even a little bit. It’s so extremely comfortable to wear! And of course I’m also a huge fan of the staying power. This lipgloss is just everything you could ever look for in a lipgloss and therefore I highly recommend giving it a try, even if you’re not a big fan of lipgloss!
And that’s pretty much it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post and be sure to let me know what you think of this Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb and the whole Fenty Beauty collection in general!
