Feeling Fresh and Zesty With The Lush Bohemian Soap

28/08/2019

A while ago I placed an order on the Lush UK website and I decided to buy myself a piece of soap. Normally I don’t use solid soap an awful lot, but if it’s from Lush I am always willing to give it a try. I ended up buying the Bohemian soap because I smelled it a while ago and I absolutely loved it. It’s quite a citrussy scent, which is something I’d normally never go for. But with the summer in mind I did think it would be very refreshing. Anyway, long story short: I’ve been using the Bohemian soap for a while now and I figured it would be a cool idea to just go ahead and review it for you guys. So if you’re interested in finding out more about this interesting looking piece of soap, make sure you continue reading this post!

Whenever you order a piece of soap from Lush online you get a set amount of product. In the case of Bohemian that amount is 120 grams. When you go ahead and buy it in store you can choose yourself how much product you want to get. For me 120 grams is right about right. It’s not too big, but it’s enough to get a proper idea of what it’s like and use it for a couple of weeks straight. Like I said I’m normally not a soap user, so I didn’t expect myself to go ahead and use this on a daily basis. If you do use solid soaps a lot, 120 grams might be quite little for you.

Anyway, let’s talk about the looks of this soap. To me this soap doesn’t look super appealing. It’s yellowish and it has a lot of white lumps in it. It basically looks like mouldy apple sauce in solid form. Yup, that’s not too appealing. However, it does smell really good and to me, that makes it all okay.

Long story short: Bohemian isn’t the most appealing product to look at, but it smells good and I was excited to give it a try. Oh, and for those of you who are curious, this soap got delivered naked (so without packaging). I had a spare piece of Lush-wrap laying around that I like to package it in. You can also choose to store it in one of the Lush tins but then you will have to cut it in pieces.

Lush Bohemian Soap 120 gr – €7 / £5,50

Solid soaps can be used for a variety of things. You can use it to wash your body with, you can use it to wash your hands with and you can even use it to wash your makeup brushes with. It’s totally up to you what you like to use it for. When I bought it I intended on using it to wash my body with and I stuck to that.

The scent of Bohemian can be described as summery citrus with lemon as its main note. It’s very fresh and brightening and it totally lifts up the mood. Back when it was 40 degrees celsius out, this was what made me feel clean and fresh when nothing else could. It was a total life-saver for me those couple of days.

Like I mentioned before, I’m normally not the biggest fan of citrussy scents. It’s just not my thing really. However, I do like this scent. And I think that is because it’s not overly zesty. Of course it’s just a burst of lemon coming at your nose, but at the same time it also has something calming and soft to it. It’s not all sourness you smell. I’m really terrible at describing scents, I think everyone knows that by now, but I hope this makes sense. So even if you’re not a citrus-fan to begin with, you might end up liking this scent more than you’d expect. It’s really, really nice.

Whenever I want to wash my body with the Bohemian Soap from Lush I either just take it in between my hands, get it soaping and use the soap that comes off to wash my body. Or I use it in combination with a wash cloth. Both ways work great for me, but if you’re scared of dropping your soap I’d suggest using a wash cloth. The first time I used this soap I was sitting in the tub and I dropped it like five times. It splashed the whole bath room.

I can hear some of you think: the smell sounds awfully nice to me but I really don’t like to use a solid piece of soap. If that’s you, I have a tip for you. There are plenty of recipes online that tell you how to turn a solid soap (from Lush) into liquid soap. It’s fairly simple. You can just buy an unscented shower gel, shave the soap bar into that and let it dissolve. There you go, you’ve got your own Bohemian shower gel! I might even go ahead and try this sometime soon!

Anyway, after washing my body with the Bohemian soap my skin feel squeaky clean and refreshed. What I did notice while using this soap is that my skin didn’t feel as smooth as it does whenever I use a shower gel. I really don’t know how to describe it, but it’s not like your hand just glides over the skin after using this. It’s not as bad as it felt when I used the Rockstar Soap, but it’s still there. At this point in time that feeling doesn’t bother me anymore. But if you do dislike that feeling you might want to reconsider getting a bar soap from Lush.

All in all I do really like the Lush Bohemian Soap Bar. It’s a very fresh and zesty scent that makes me feel refreshed and also very clean. It’s a multifunctional product, you can use it for whatever you want. The only downside to this soap is the fact that it does leave my body as smooth as a shower gel does, but that’s easily fixed by using a body lotion afterwards. All in all I’d definitely recommend trying this soap. For me it’s a summer-essential!

And that brings us to the end of today’s post. Thank you guys so much for reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of this Lush Bohemian Soap. Have you smelled it before?
