It’s already day two of the first theme week (favourites week) and it’s time for me to show you guys my very favourite makeup brushes. Brushes are essential for creating a full face of makeup and therefore I use them every single day. Throughout the years I’ve tried many, many brushes, some of which were terrible and some of which were amazing. Today I’m going to show you guys the ones that were and still are amazing. If you’re interested in finding out which ones I’m talking about, make sure you keep on reading!
Let’s start off with the first brush, the Real Techniques Setting Brush. Mine is shiny because it’s from a limited edition set, but it also comes individually. This brush is perfect for so many things. I personally love, love, love using it for applying highlighter, but it’s also perfect for setting the under eye area or any other precise jobs.
The brush has this duo-fiber hair thingy going on which I think is great. Because of that the product you apply with it applies in a very flawless way. You won’t get too much product onto the skin, but you do get enough. It’s basically the perfect brush.
Next up is the MAC 217 brush. I have the rose gold edition from the Ellie Goulding Limited Edition, but it comes in silver as well, which is sold all year round. This brush is so insanely popular. At first I didn’t really care about it, but after a while I did and I really wanted to give it a try, so I did.
This MAC 217 brush is the softest and fluffiest brush I’ve ever seen. But even though it’s really fluffy, it isn’t too fluffy or soft. It has a really nice shape as well which makes this brush very multifunctional. It’s perfect for pretty much any eyeshadow job ever. From blending to applying, it does everything perfectly.
The next brush is from Smashbox. It came in my Full Exposure palette. Normally the brushes that come in palettes aren’t that great, well they’re mostly terrible, but this one is actually very different. It got two sides. One side comes with a normal shader brush. One side of the shader brush is made out of white hair and the other part is made out of black hair. I don’t really know why this is, but it’s nice.
The other end of the brush comes with a fluffy crease brush. It’s kinda similar to the MAC 217 brush and the Zoeva Soft Definer brush. Brushes like this one are perfect for softly applying a bit of colour into the crease and I really do love using it for that. This brush is really, really nice!
Next up is the Zoeva 229 Eye Finish brush. This is another one of my all time favourite brushes. I’ve been using it for a couple of years now and I’m completely in love with it. It’s literally the best blending brush ever created. It’s just so incredibly amazing and its job and it’s so unique and different, I love it.
The thing that makes this brush so unique is the fact that it has duo-fibre hairs, unlike all other blending brushes which have normal hairs instead. Because of the duo-fibre hairs the brush blends your eyeshadows really evenly and your eyeshadow will end up looking absolutely flawless.
The only brush I love more than the Eye Finish brush by Zoeva is the 227 Soft Definer brush by Zoeva. This brush is quite similar to the MAC 217 brush, but it’s a little thicker and rounder. I really like this brush for applying my transition colour, but it’s also amazing at applying your crease colour in a very nice and diffused way.
The thing that makes this brush so amazing is the fact that it’s a combination between a crease/pencil brush and a blending brush. Because of this combination it’s capable of applying eyeshadow and blending it at the same time. I love that about it.
Next up is one of my favourite shader brushes ever. The 232 Luxe Classic Shader brush from the Zoeva Rose Gold Vol. 2 set. First of all the rose gold details are just absolutely stunning, I absolutely love it. But that’s not the point. The point is that this brush is amazing.
Why you ask, well because it’s not too stiff, but it’s not too fluffy either. It really packs on the colour on the lid and because of its size it doesn’t take a million hours to cover your entire eyelid, but it’s also not so big that you can’t be precise enough with it.
Then we have the Zoeva 230 Luxe Pencil brush. This is a very tiny and precise brush that’s most commonly used to precisely apply eyeshadow in the crease or along the bottom lash line. I like it for both purposed, but I mainly use it to apply my darkest crease colour in the outer corner of my eyes, which is quite a precise job. And I have to say it does an amazing job at that!
My second last favourite is the Zoeva 231 Luxe Petite Crease brush. I actually have this one twice because I love it so much. I use this brush every single day. I just don’t do eyeshadow without this bad boy. It’s definitely an essential in my routine.
The reason why I love it so much is because it’s the perfect brush to apply your crease colours with. It fits perfectly into the crease area and for some reason it does its job better than other similar crease brushes. Aside from that it’s also really soft which I think is very important, especially when it comes to brushes you use around the eye area.
My last favourite brush is another one my Zoeva. It’s the 221 Luxe Soft Crease brush. I told you guys a minute ago that my favourite blending brush is the Zoeva Eye Finish brush and my favourite crease brushes are the Zoeva Soft Definer and the Petite Crease brush, so why another one? Well that’s because this brush is the perfect finishing touch. I don’t use it every single day because it’s not necessary, but I do like using it when I feel like my look needs that extra bit of blending or that extra soft touch of colour. It’s perfect for that.
And that was it for today. Those were all of my favourite makeup brushes. I hope you enjoyed today’s post and let me know which brushes are your favourite!
XOXO, Nicole.
