Recently I was on the hunt for some new jeans. I’ve been wearing my current favourite Monki jeans for over half a year non-stop now, so it was about time for me to invest in another pair. After scrolling through the internet for hours I came across the famous Topshop Joni jeans. According to what I’ve read and heard they were supposed to be really nice and skinny and rather comfortable. After debating on whether or not to get them I finally decided to for it and ordered, what I thought was the same pair, in two different sizes. Because I’m so excited about them I thought it might be fun to write a review on them, especially since they’re so well known. If you’re interested in finding out what my opinion is on them (as a picky pants person), make sure you continue reading!
Let’s start off by telling you something I thought was quite strange. I thought I had ordered two pairs of the same pants in 2 different sized. Their names were exactly the same, the name of the colour was the same and according to the site the materials were exactly the same.
However, when I received both pairs I noticed that one pairs was way softer and stretchier than the other. I also felt like one was a tad bit lighter than the other and the label on the inside that says ‘Joni’ is different on both pairs. The rest is exactly the same. I still haven’t figured out what’s up and whether or not they’re the same or not, but they do feel different on the body.
One of the main struggles I had while buying these pants was choosing the size. I don’t buy pants that often and when I do they usually have very easy sizing, not with the length and width size. After googling, watching many videos about them and asking some people who already have these jeans I decided to buy the sized W26L30 and W26L32. For the record I’m 167/168 cm tall.
I expected one of the pairs not to fit and to send one of them back, but in the end both fit pretty well. The somewhat shorter one (it’s only a 6 cm difference) fits me like cropped jeans and the other one fits like normal jeans. So both fit pretty well which is why I ended up keeping them both.
Onto the pants themselves. Both are in the shade Navy Blue and their exact name is Joni Super High Waisted Jeans. They are very tight and they fit like they’re made for my legs. They are quite stretchy, but like I mentioned that does depend on the pair you have. It probably also depends on the colour you choose and on what fit and style. But both are stretchy so that’s really nice.
One of my favourite things about the fit of these jeans is that they do fit really well, they are really tight, but they won’t loosen up too much. They won’t get stretched out if you get what I mean. They will keep their shape no matter how many times you wear them, what movements you make or how often you wash it. I love that about it!
Another thing I really like about these jeans is that they will keep your body in place. My previous pair of jeans stretched along with my body. So if I was feeling a little bloated, my pants would become a little wider. These jeans won’t. It might be uncomfortable for some of you, but I personally really like it. Even if you’re feeling bloated, or if you are bloated, it won’t be visible because these pants keep everything where it’s supposed to be. How nice is that?!
Like I mentioned before I used to wear my black Monki jeans non-stop before I got these two. These are navy blue. For someone who isn’t that good at fashion and used to stick to the black ones because I did know how to style them, it was quite a daring decision. However, now that I’ve been wearing them for a couple of weeks and I’m used to it I’m glad I did it. I’m glad I’m finally, after wearing black pants only for like 4 jeans, wearing something else again.
These jeans don’t necessarily look better with everything than the black ones did, but they made me a little more daring on the fashion department. They gave me the courage to try out combinations I wouldn’t have made before. That sounds pretty deep for something so superficial, but hey, it’s just the truth.
Overall I’m just head over heals with these pants. I’ve been wearing them everyday since I got them and I can’t stop raving about them. I literally tell everyone who wants to hear it how amazing they are and that’s not something I usually do. It’s really just because they are this amazing. I highly, highly recommend giving them a try!
Thank you guys so much for reading today’s post and be sure to let me know which
jeans are your absolute favourite!
XOXO, Nicole.
