Back in London I finally decided to pick up some Soap & Glory makeup products. I have been eyeing them for years but somehow I never ended picking some of the products up. This time I finally changed that. One of the items I ended up buying is this Soap & Glory Love At First Blush Rosy-Radiance Shimmer Powder. It looked super pretty in store and I just couldn’t wait to give it a proper try. Today I’m reviewing it. So, if you’re interested in finding out everything there is to know about this gorgeously packaged beauty, make sure you continue reading today’s review!
Just like all other Soap & Glory products this blush comes in an adorable looking packaging. The container is rounded and comes with a mirror on the inside. It isn’t extremely large but it isn’t a small packaging either. Size-wise I think it’s just basic, it’s what you’d expect from it when you imagine what it will be like. The compact itself has a black colour and on the front it has a sticker with a nice little design. The outside is pink and so is the title of the product. There’s also a picture of a women on it, which adds a really cool old-school look to the packaging. I know that pictures like that one have a specific name, but I can’t find the right word for it right now so I’m just going to stop talking about it.
Overall I do think that the packaging has a very fun and young look to it. It’s playful but it also looks very, very pretty to me. I like the combination of the pink with the grey and I like the picture in the back. I think that the packaging looks quite fancy for what it is and that’s a huge plus to me. Aside from that it also comes with 7,5 grams of products which is quite something, so it’s not just a pretty packaging.
Soap & Glory Love At First Blush – £11
There are a few different versions of this product available. I believe one has more brownie tones to it and this one has more pinky tones. This one is called Love At First Blush and therefore it seems to me like it’s marketed as a blush. The powder is divided into pieces, just like a pizza. There are a total of five shades included in our little blush-pizza and all are included twice. Because of this you can create variations in shade with this blush and therefore this blush won’t look exactly the same everyday. I do think that’s a plus because I really love variation when it comes to my makeup, but if you do want something consistent and something you know will look a certain way every single day, again and again, you might want to find another product.
So that’s it for the colour. More on that later when we well go through the swatches. Let’s start talking about the claims now. When I went online to find the claims Soap And Glory has made about this product I came to the realisation that it wasn’t much. All they said is that this blush powder can be used to create a gorgeous rosy glow and beautifully luminous skin. The skin-smoothing emollient base and encapsulated metallic shimmer pearls deliver instant chic for the shabby cheek.
Even though they don’t tell us much about the product, they do make it sound like this going to be a great product. It sounds like it’s going to add a gorgeous luminous and pearly shine to the cheeks and I’m all about that!
Before I tell you more about the effect on the skin and whatnot, let’s first quickly talk about the texture of the product. In my experience drugstore blush powders, and other powders too, don’t have the best textures. Luxurious blushes are always very satin-like and super smooth. I have to admit that you can definitely tell the difference between the texture of this powder and the texture of a Dior powder, but generally speaking I don’t think the texture of this blush is half bad. Especially when you consider the fact that this is a powder that contains a lot of shimmer. Drugstore shimmer powders tend to be quite chalky and this one isn’t chalky at all.
In terms of application I think this blush is great. It does on rather evenly and doesn’t create any patches or blotchy areas at all. It’s all nice and even. It’s also rather easy to blend and spread the product across the cheek area so if you do apply a little too much on one area you can easily correct that mistake.
The pigmentation of the blush is great as well. I do like my blushes to not be too extremely pigmented, but they obviously should have a decent amount of pigment to them. Soap & Glory understand that idea very well. The first three swatches are the three individual shades and the last one is a mixture of all three shades together. As you can tell it creates a very nice, rosy pink look. I really like the look of it on the cheeks.
In the claims Soap & Glory told us that this powder has some pearly ingredient in it and that it should create a nice and luminous look on the cheeks. I was a tad bit hesitant about that, but luckily they weren’t lying about it. This blush really does create a soft luminous glow. It’s nothing too heavy or extreme, you can’t call it blinding, but it is a great amount of glow for everyday life. It’s great for days when you don’t really feel like wearing highlighter, but you do want your cheeks to glow a little bit.
Overall I think that the Soap And Glory Love At First Blush is a great product. I absolutely love the name of the product, the look of the packaging and the product itself. It has just the most stunning colour ever and it creates this gorgeous luminous look on the cheeks. It’s a great product for everyday basis so if you’re on the hunt for something like that, I’d definitely recommend checking it out!
That was it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of this Soap & Glory Blush and whether or not you think it looks absolutely adorable!
