Too Faced La Creme Lipstick

27/09/2017

Back in Warsaw I bought my first ever Too Faced lipstick. My friend saw it and loved it and because she bought it I obviously had to buy it as well. I have to say that it’s a product that has been on my wishlist for years now, so I didn’t mind finally buying it. I bought it in the shade Juicy Melons which is the prettiest bright coral shade I’ve ever seen and I was more than excited to give it a try. Today, after testing it for a long time, it’s finally time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out more about this gorgeous looking lipstick, make sure you continue reading!

The Too Faced La Creme Color Drenched Lip Cream comes in an adorable little box. It’s powder pink and decorated with a really pretty floral design. It looks very elegant and feminine and I love that. It’s very Too Faced. The lipstick itself comes in a matte golden tube. It has Too Faced written on the front and aside from that it doesn’t have much to it. It’s very simple, but just like the box it’s also very elegant. I really like the way it looks.

Obviously the Too Faced La Creme Lip Creams come in many, many shades. Because I’ve been busy trying to grow my not-nude-coloured-luxury-lip collection I ended up buying this very pretty bright shade called Juicy Melons. It’s the perfect bright colour for me because it is bright but it’s still quite wearable for a daily basis.

Too Faced La Creme Color Drenched Lipstick in Juicy Melons – €23

Before we go into more detail about the texture and the quality of the lipstick and whatnot, let’s first go into more depth about the colour. Juicy Melons is a very fruity and fun colour. It’s a coral colour with a touch of peachiness to it. It reminds me of summer, happiness and fruit and overall it’s just a very fun and happy colour. It’s a colour that can brighten up any look and any rainy day and that’s one of the main reasons why I like it so much. It’s also the perfect colour to use on days where you don’t feel like putting on much makeup but you do want to look put together or on days where your makeup turned out terrible and you want to mask it by wearing a brighter lip colour.

Having discussed that, let’s move on to the actual product. According to Too Faced this is supposed to be a completely unique, super-luxe combination of creamy colour and intense hydration. They say it’s hydrating, soothing and lip-conditioning. It’s also supposed to stimulate the appearance of smoother lips thanks to the power Peptides in there and it’s also supposed to be creamy and have a one-swipe formula. Lastly they claim that this lipstick is ultra-comfortable to wear.

Even though I’m completely in love with this lipstick and even though I genuinely think this is a great product, I don’t totally agree with the things Too Faced is saying and this definitely is a lipstick with a couple of side notes in my opinion. But let’s start off with the positive things. First of all, the texture of this lipstick is amazing and it’s definitely unique. It’s one of the most pigmented yet creamy lipsticks I’ve tried. But even though it’s creamy it’s not super slippery, thick or buttery. It just glides over the lips so nicely which makes the application of this lipstick even easier.

I also think that the pigmentation of this lipstick is insanely amazing. It’s super pigmented, very bright and super opaque. It’s also true that you only need one swipe to get that super opaque lip look. Of course you can decide to apply it with a very light hand and get a more sheer look, but if you want to you can get it to look nice and bright within one swipe.

What I like less about this lipstick is how it fades. The one thing I hate about bright lip colours is that some of them fade on the inside but leave this line around your lips behind. Like you’ve applied lip liner and forgot to colour it in with a lipstick. That look. I think most of you who have worn a brighter lip colour once know what I’m talking about and that’s quite a deal breaker for me. Sadly, this lipstick does do that a bit. I wouldn’t say the line that it leaves behind is as bright as the lip colour itself, but you can tell, you can definitely tell.

And of course you can work around that. You can check up on it regularly and reapply a bit when needed. However, that’s just not my thing. I don’t like having to reapply my lipstick or having to worry about what it looks like. That’s just not my thing.

Having said that, let’s talk about how it feels on the lips. Too Faced claims that this is an ultra-comfortable lipstick. And even though it’s pretty comfortable to wear, I think ultra-comfortable is a bit of an overstatement. The thing is, when you just apply it, it feels great. It will continue feeling great for a couple of hours, about 2 or 3, maybe even more depending on how talkative you are or how much you eat. After that it starts to get a little drier and it starts to fade. And when it fades it just feels a little funky. It doesn’t hurt and it’s not uncomfortable, but I wouldn’t consider that feeling comfortable. That’s what I’m trying to say.

What I do like is that it stays in place for quite some time. When I first wore it I talked for 2 hours straight after applying it and after those two hours it still looked pretty good. On days where you talk a normal amount of time it will last even longer before fading, but to be honest I think 2 hours of heavy talking is quite difficult to deal with for a lipstick, so I’m actually pretty impressed by that.

Overall This Too Faced La Creme Colour Drenched Lipstick is just a great lipstick. The packaging looks adorable, it feels very nice and luxurious, I love the colour and the quality of the lipstick is just great. It’s not outstanding, it’s not mind blowing or anything like that, but it’s a great lipstick and definitely worth the price. I really love wearing it and I’ll definitely continue doing so!

With that being said it’s time for me to end today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of this lipstick and which lipstick is your current favourite!
