Beautyblenders, I think they are one of the best things ever invented for applying your makeup, but maintaining them is quite the job. You have to wash them regularly, it’s hard to get rid of all of the stains and sometimes when you’re not careful enough they end up getting black spots (aka fungus) and you have to throw them out. In today’s post I’m going to talk about how you can extend the lifetime of your Beautyblender and I’m going to give you guys some tips on how to maintain them. If you’re interested in reading more, make sure you continue reading!
1. Clean it daily!
The first tip is an obvious one but I do think it’s important to mention. I don’t always do it because it just takes up quite a bit of time, but if you really want your Beautyblender to be in the best condition as possible you really have to clean it after every use. It does take up time, but it will make your Beautyblender last longer!
2. Make sure it’s dry
Another tip to prevent your Beautyblender from getting stinky and getting all moldy is to make sure you get is as dry as possible after washing it. Put it inside a towel and squeeze as hard as you possibly can. If you let it dry with all of the water still in it it will first of all develop a nasty scent and second of all it will be easier for the germs to grow in a moist environment so it will get moldy.
3. Put it in the microwave
Another important tip to prevent your Beautyblender from getting moldy is to put it in the microwave for 1.5 minutes every week. Put it in a little bowl filled with water and put it inside the microwave for 1.5 minutes. The heat of the  microwave will kill all the germs that are inside your Beautyblender and therefore it will prevent your Beautyblender from getting these black spots.
If you do put it in the microwave make sure you are careful when you want to squeeze out the water afterwards because it will be incredibly hot!
4. Store it wisely
Another great tip to prevent your Beautyblender from getting moldy is to keep it outside of a makeup bag when it’s damp. For bacteria to grow they need a moist, dark and preferably a warm environment. When you put your Beautyblender in a (closed) makeup bag it will stay moist because there isn’t a lot of oxygen in there and because it’s moist and the other conditions bacteria need are right too it will be more likely to get moldy.
And that concludes today’s post. I hope these tips are helpful to you in any way and be sure to leave your best tips in the comments!
