Back when I bought the Chanel Perfection Lumiere Velvet foundation I also bought a mini of the Estée Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Lash Multiplying Mascara. I was in desperate need for a new mascara and this one seemed pretty good so I was willing to give it a proper try. After trying it out for a few weeks straight I feel like it’s about time for me to review this mascara. So, if you’re interested in finding out whether or not the Estée Lauder Sumptuous Extreme mascara is worthy of your hard-earned money, make sure you continue reading!
Let’s start off by talking about the packaging. The mascara doesn’t just come like this but it comes in a box. The mascara itself looks like this. I bought the mini version so it’s slightly smaller than the regular one, but the design of the packaging is exactly the same. Anyway, the packaging is almost entirely gold and I love that. It’s a little overboard, but I can appreciate it. Aside from gold it also has dark blue details on it like the logo and the name of the mascara. The combination of those two colours make the mascara look very elegant and I like that.
Having said that, let’s move on to the rest there is to talk about. I have never heard or read anything about the Estée Lauder mascara’s, but I’ve always been tempted to buy one. Even though the wands don’t look like the wands I usually like, I did expect this mascara to be something special.
Estée Lauder Sumptuous Extreme Mascara Mini – €7,15
The wand of the brush is pretty basic yet special. The type of hairs they used and the shape of the hairs is what makes it basic. The fact that the wand gets smaller towards the top is rather unique. And the fact that it does get smaller towards the tip is also very practical. It prevents you from smearing mascara in your inner corner or on your nose. It also helps with keeping the lashes nice and separated.
Like I said this isn’t a brush I’d usually go for, however I do like it. Usually I like those spiky mascara wands with the silicone or plastic (whatever it’s made of) bristles. The reason why I usually don’t go for wands with normal hairs is because I feel like they are not that good at separating the lashes and in my experience they usually create a pretty clumpy look.
This wand luckily isn’t like that. I didn’t expect it to be as bad as some other mascaras with a similar wand since this is Estée Lauder, but I didn’t expect it to be this good either. The wand is actually really amazing at separating the lashes but it does load enough product on them for them to look dramatic in a way I like it.
As you can tell the effect of the mascara is about perfect. It’s not too extreme or too dramatic, it’s not clumpy or spider-lash-like, but it is dramatic enough. It’s not too natural and it does define my eyes really well. And the great thing about it is that you can apply another layer, or two, and make it even more dramatic. But it will never get clumpy!
After talking about all of the great things about this mascara let’s move on to the one negative thing about it. This mascara is everything but water resistent. If you ever get a watery eye or if you just straight up cry or find yourself in the middle of a rainstorm this mascara will run down your face like no other. It also becomes very wet again so your lashes will transfer black onto other things you touch with your lashes and that’s definitely a downside. Of course it doesn’t claim to be waterproof so it doesn’t have to be, but I’ve never seem a mascara this anti-waterproof in my life.
Despite the fact that it’s everything but waterproof, I do really love this mascara. I love the wand because it separates my lashes really well and I love the way this mascara makes my lashes look. It creates a really pretty and slightly dramatic look that you can even build up to be a dramatic look. Overall this is a great mascara and it is definitely worth the price tag!
And that concludes today’s post. Thank you so much for reading and be sure to let me know which mascara you’re currently wearing!
