Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Illuminating Powder Gelée

07/01/2018

In my November Favourites post I talked to you guys about how I recently decided to grow my highlighter collection. One of the highlighters that I bought to do that with is the Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Illuminating Powder Gelée. From the moment I saw it I was in love with it and that’s why I immediately decided to buy it. I just went for it. I’ve been using it for quite a while now, I’ve actually included it in my November Favourites already so the outcome of this review won’t be a big shocker, but I still wanted to talk about it in more detail than I did back in that post, so that’s what I’ll be doing today. So, if you’re interested in reading everything about this gorgeous Bronze Goddess Illuminating Powder Gelée, make sure you continue reading!

First things first: packaging. I absolutely adore how this product is packaged. I love the box as well as the compact itself. The box has this really pretty shiny bronze colour all over which creates a very pretty summery vibe. Of course this product is aimed at summer since it’s called Bronze Goddess and it is currently autumn/winter, but I still really appreciate the looks of it. The compact itself is even prettier than the box that surrounds it. The compact is round and has a little thingy on the side which can be used to open up the packaging. The outside of the packaging has some white and some bronzy details and the top of the little round attachment has a turquoise colour. I really love this colour scheme, it’s gorgeous!

On the inside of the compact you’ll find quite a decent sized mirror. It’s big enough to use for doing your makeup if you’re on the go and don’t have a proper mirror and that’s always a big plus in my book. But aside from the mirror the inside also comes with the actual product. The most gorgeous product in the whole wide world if you ask me. I absolutely love the way that it looks!

Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Illuminating Powder Gelée – €39,95

When I first opened up the product I instantly fell in love with what I saw. I know highlighters can be beautiful but I had never seen a highlighter this pretty. When it comes to highlighters I’m personally a big fan of champagnes with a golden/bronzy touch and this is exactly that. It’s a gorgeous champagne coloured highlighter with bronzy accents. It has all these stripes on them which look like the rays of the sun and I just really love everything about it. The colour of the compact really compliments the shade of the highlighter and that makes it even prettier.

On the swatch, which you will see in a minute, the highlighter comes across very goldeny. In real life this is more of a glowy product rather than a shimmery one, thanks to which the colour won’t show up on your face as golden as it does on my hand. It also is a very flattering shade for basically all skin tones because of that. That makes this a very versatile and inclusive product and I’m all about that!

Moving on to the claims. Instead of summarising the claims into a small piece of text I decided to add in the entire thing I found on the site where I bought this product because I actually really like the way they described this product. So, this is what Estée Lauder has to say about the product:

“Capture that endless summer radiance with the Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Illuminating Powder Gelée.

Boasting ultra-refined particles for a smooth, satin-soft finish, the luxurious bronzer glazes cheekbones with a sweep of natural looking, long lasting colour with luminous, pearlescent pigments to add a touch of sheer highlight.

Housed in a sleek mirrored compact and suitable for all-over body use, the embossed powder leaves skin with a gorgeous golden glow”.

Overall it sounds like this is going to be a very luxurious, glowy and pretty product. It sounds like the powder is made of gorgeous, luxurious ingredients and that it’s going to look stunning on the cheeks. Of course that’s just what I get from the small piece of text they use to sell this product, so let’s start talking about the quality to see if it’s really that incredible as Estée Lauder makes it sound.

So, let’s talk texture. For me texture is one of the most important of a product because it says a lot about the quality. The texture of this product is, like with most luxury makeup products, really nice. It is a very smooth and rich powder and it actually feels quite creamy. Because of the smoothness it has a bit of a satin-like feel to it and I’m a really big fan of the way that feels.

Because of that satin texture this powder is just a dream to apply. It glides onto the cheeks without any effort whatsoever. It really is an effortless product to use. What I like is that it applies very evenly and that you won’t end up with one area that has a lot of highlighter (often the area where the brush touches the face first) and another area with less product. This product disperses very evenly.

Like Estée Lauder claimed it is a more sheer kind of highlight. It’s not actually sheer, but I’ll talk more about that in a minute, but it’s not the most intense highlighter in the world either. However, it is buildable. So if you do prefer your highlighter to be very blinding you can definitely build it up and get that look!

As you can tell from the swatch this is a very pigmented highlighter. In the claims Estée Lauder said that this powder is going to add a sheer glow to the cheeks and that’s something you’re probably not going to believe by looking at this picture. I have to say that on the swatch it does look more intense than it will on the cheeks because of course a finger has more pressure than a brush and a finger is more dense, but even on the cheeks I wouldn’t say it’s a very subtle highlighter.

What I am happy about is that the highlighter doesn’t look as golden on the cheeks as it does on the swatch. It’s not like a golden stripe on top of your cheek. No, this highlighter will create a gorgeous glow on your cheek bone. A glow that isn’t going to look like a mirror, but it is definitely clearly visible. It’s a natural but intense highlight. That sounds like a unique combination, but that’s exactly what it is.

Another plus about this highlighter is that it actually stays glowy all day long. Because of my oily skin I always get a little more glowy throughout the day, but the glow of a highlighter is obviously quite different from the glow of my greasy skin.

Overall I’m just head over heels in love with this Estée Lauder Bronze Goddess Illuminating Powder Gelée. I have been using it non-stop for the past months and I’ll definitely continue to do so because this is just the most stunning highlighter I have ever used. It has the perfect shade, the perfect amount of glow and I’m just very impressed by the quality of it. If you’re going to invest in a great highlighter, you should definitely consider getting this one!

And that’s pretty much it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know what you think of this gorgeous highlighter and which highlighter is your current favourite!

I simply just adore the package. The pigment looks pretty darn good too.
