In last weeks haul, or maybe this weeks I’m not completely sure, I showed you guys I bought a little eyeshadow palette or trio by Essence. I usually don’t buy Essence eyeshadows, at least not anymore, because I just prefer buying one high end palette over a few low budget palettes. However, this one did look really good to me so I decided to give it a go anyway. If you’re interested in finding out how I like it, make sure you continue reading!
The Essence Smokey Eye Set comes in this little plastic packaging. The bottom part is black and the lid is clear. It’s super tiny and compact and therefore perfect for on the go. The palette comes with a little sponge applicator as well but because it kept falling out of the palette it’s not shown on the picture above.
The Smokey Eye set consists of three different colours of eyeshadow that, I suppose, are meant to create a smokey eye with. Now I’m not a big party person so I don’t wear smokey eyes that often. Well to be honest I never really do cause it’s not really my thing to wear them to school or whatever, but I did like these colours and they could actually be perfect for a day time look as well.
So let’s start with discussing the colours. All three colours have shimmer to them. I personally really like shimmery shadows, but if I would do a smokey eye, I do think you need some more matte shades too. Anyway, because I don’t use it for smokey eyes, that’s not really my problem.
The three colours in this palette are basically perfect for my ideal everyday makeup look. The only thing missing is a transition colour, but aside from that it has got everything. The bottom colour is perfect as an all over lid shade, the darker shade is perfect for in the crease and along the lower lash line and the white shade is perfect for highlighting and could also be used to lighten up the look a little if it’s too dark for your liking.
When it comes to the quality of these shadows I’m actually quite surprised. Because of my negative experiences with Essence eyeshadows I didn’t expect too much, but honestly this pigmentation isn’t bad. Aside from that the shadows blend really nicely and apply super easily too. Pigmentation definitely isn’t the only thing that makes an eyeshadow good.
The lasting power is also pretty impressive. Normally shadows like this fade pretty quickly, but these stay super intense all day. I don’t know why this palette isn’t very popular yet because it really is an incredible product! I’m so, so, so impressed!
Overall I really think this palette or trio, whatever you want to call it, is a hidden gem. The shadows are very pigmented, the texture of the shadows is nice, they blend really nicely and they stay intense all day. Aside from that it’s just a great trio, the colours look absolutely stunning together and if you’re into a tad bit more dramatic makeup during the day time it’s perfect for an everyday eye look. I love it!
The Essence Smokey Eyes Set is available at the drugstore for €2,79.
That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know if you have discovered any hidden gems like this palette lately!

Leuk setje, alleen vind ik de kleurtjes niet zo heel mooi bij elkaar passen voor een smokey eye
