Essence Matt Touch Blush

01/12/2015

Essence Matte Touch Blush Packaging

It wasn’t until a few weeks ago that I realised I didn’t own a single Essence blush. I have to say that Essence isn’t my absolute favourite budget brand on earth, and aside from their limited editions I am not always too attracted to their products, but I did feel like I needed to give at least one of their blushes a try. I decided to go for one of the Matt Touch Blushes and today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out more about it, keep on reading!

Essence Matt Touch Blush Shade

The Essence Matt Touch Blush comes in the same packaging as the normal Essence blushes. It’s round and made out of clear plastic. I have to say I’m not a fan, but I don’t hate it either. It does however have that cheap feel to it, which I do really dislike, but considering the fact this is an actual cheap product, I feel like I can’t really complain about it too much. The blush itself has this swirly pattern to it and in the middle it says “matt”. I like that.

The Matt Touch Blush collection consists out of two blushes. One of which is a very pretty peach colour called “Peach Me Up” and the other one is a more reddish pink shade called “Berry Me Up”, which is the one I ended up buying.

Essence Matt Touch Blush

Berry Me Up is like the perfect blush colour for me. I absolutely love pinks with red undertones (and even just straight up reds), so this colour is pretty much right up my alley. Berry Me Up is, as you probably know already, a matte blush. There’s no shimmer, sheen or glitter to detect and I love that. It’s so funny how a few years ago I only had one matte blush in my entire collection and I rarely use it, and now I prefer matte blushes. Life’s crazy.

Berry Me Up is the perfect all year round blush colour. Even though it’s a bit of a berry colour, which is more of an autumn colour, it’s also perfect for spring and summer. That because it has quite a bit of pink to it, which makes it a lot less dark and heavy and therefore perfect for everyday of the year.

The thing I love most about this blush is the fact that it goes with every single look, ever. I know I say that a lot, but I say it because it’s true. It’s something I have been looking for in blushes lately. I think it’s so important, especially if you’re someone who prefers having just one blush to use every single day. If you’re like that, this colour is definitely what you’re looking for.

Essence Matt Touch Blush Colour

Onto the quality. According to Essence the Matt Touch Blush has a soft texture and adds a matte finish to the cheeks. It’s supposed to give your skin a hint of colour and a fresh and healthy look. I have to say I’m surprised by how minimal these claims are. Essence is usually a brand that has pretty bad ass claims, but this is really, really minimalistic. But, I have to say, the things they do say about it are true. The texture of the blush is really nice and it actually adds that fresh and healthy look to the skin.

One of the only things I don’t like about this blush, quality wise, is that it doesn’t last very long. This blush disappears within a few hours time and I really hate it when blushes are like that. I’m really in need for some colour on my cheeks.

Essence Matt Touch Blush Swatch

This blush has exactly the right amount of pigmentation. I feel like most cheaper blushes tend to be super overly pigmented, which is not something I really enjoy when it comes to blushes since it requires you to be super careful with it, and that’s not something I am capable of in the morning when I’m applying it. I’m glad this blush isn’t like that. Good job Essence!

Essence Matt Touch Blush Packaging

Over all I’m quite positive. I didn’t know what to expect really, but Essence surprised me in a very pleasant way. I absolutely love the colour of the blush, I really like the fact that it’s matte and it makes my skin look really pretty and healthy. The only thing they really have to work on is the lasting power. But aside from that, this is a great, great blush. I highly recommend it if you’re on the hunt for a great affordable blush!

The Essence Matt Touch Blush is available at the drugstore for €2,59.

That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s post and let me know if you have ever used one of the Essence blushes and if so, tell me how you like them and which one you’d recommend!
