Recently I discovered I was running out of my favourite finishing powder. Because I had no time to wait for it to ship here I decided to quickly get one from the drugstore nearby: the Essence Stay All Day Translucent Fixing Powder. In the past I used to love the Essence fixing powders so I thought why not give it another chance. Today it’s time for the review. If you’re curious to find out whether or not I still like Essence powders as much as I did back in the day, make sure you continue reading!
Back in the day the Essence loose powder came in a absolutely terrible looking packaging. Now they brought it back and they, luckily, changed up the packaging and created something I actually really like. This new packaging is mainly white and has the name of the product written on it in a very fun and girly way. It does look slightly childish, but it’s okay. I like it.
The powder I usually use comes in a big ass tub filled with like 20 grams of powder. This one is slightly smaller and only contains 11,0 grams. But for a regular person that is more than enough. I’m just someone who uses a ton of powder so packagings like this won’t last me very long.
The Essence Stay All Day powder is a white, transparent powder. I’ve been using transparent powders like this for years. I like them because it doesn’t matter what skintone you have, it will always look good. You won’t have to worry about it matching your skintone when you have a tan going on or when you’re a bit paler, it’s always perfect.
The texture of the powder looks pretty good. It’s not the most finely milled powder, but it’s not too big or chunky whatsoever. It feels very soft and once applied to the skin it actually makes your skin feel very satin-like. I really like that effect.
When it comes to fixing my makeup and especially keeping my skin matte all day this powder does a better job than most of the powders I have ever used. I don’t know what it is about these Essence powders, but they got it. No matter how much I sweat, move, do, etc. This powder will make sure I’ll stay shine-free all day and I love that.
Aside from that it’s also not a too powdery looking powder. Of course when you apply a ton of it, it won’t look super natural. But it’s not super powdery and it won’t make your face look incredibly cakey.
Overall I’m really glad I decided to give this powder a chance. To be honest it’s better than the Vichy powder and the Makeup Forever powder I used to use before, and it’s a lot cheaper too! It’s one of my favourite low-budget makeup products and therefore I highly recommend giving it a chance!
The Essence Stay All Day Translucent Fixing Powder is available at the drugstore for €3,99.
That was it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know which powder you use to set you makeup into place!
XOXO, Nicole.
