Embryolisse Emulsion Hydra-Mat

05/06/2017

Not too long ago I wrote a review about the amazing Embryolisse Lait Creme-Concentre I bought back in France. Because that cream is pretty thick I decided to buy the thinner version too, which is called the Embryolisse Emulsion Hydra-Matte. It’s from the same range as the Lait Creme-Concentre but it’s a lot more lightweight and it has a more gel-like texture. Today it’s time to review it and well, that’s what I’m going to do. So, if you’re interested in reading about it and finding out whether or not it’s just as amazing as its big brother, make sure you continue reading!

The packaging of the Embryolisse Emulsion Hydra-Mat is quite different from the classic Lait-Creme Concentre. Where that one was made out of this metal-like material, the Hydra-Mat comes in a regular tube. It’s rather flat and it looks a little more modern in my opinion. I do like both tubes a lot, but when it comes to looks I have to say I do prefer this one.

Compared to the Lait-Creme Concentre this one has a lot less product in it. The Lait-Creme Concentre comes with 75 ml of product and this one only has 40 ml of creme. It’s a little less, but since it’s a more spreadable formula I do think it will last you quite a long time.

Embryolisse Hydra-Mat – €26,01

Moving on to the actual product and its claims. The Embryolisse Hydra-Mat creme is a refreshing and hydrating cream, perfect for oily skin. It’s supposed to mattify the skin as hydrate it. The ingredients in this product are meant to work as a micro-sponge that fixates moisture and absorb the excess oil on your skin. If that doesn’t sound interesting, I don’t know what does.

The unique thing about this product is that it doesn’t just claim to mattify, it also says it’s a great hydrator. It has all of the hydrating effects the Lait-Creme Concentre has but it also has a mattifying effect. That combination does sound amazing but also a little unlikely to be true. I mean how can you combine intense moisture and oil-control properties?

Even though I still don’t know how they do it I have to say that they aren’t lying. This really is one of the most hydrating moisturisers I own at the moment and it’s also one of the least greasy ones. Usually rich and thick creams feel very greasy and heavy on the skin and they do usually leave behind this greasy layer. This product does have the rich and slightly thick feeling, but it just doesn’t feel greasy. The explanation for that is the consistency of the product.

Usually mattifying skincare products have a gel texture and hydrating skincare products have a rather thick and creamy texture. This product has a combination of both. It does look like a gel formula, but it feels very creamy like a rich cream. It does feel heavier on the skin than a regular gel cream would, but it sinks in like one and leaves no greasy layer at all. It’s the best of both worlds.

Another thing I think is important to mention is that this product hasn’t broken me out at all. The Embryolisse Lait-Creme Concentre is very heavy and does break me out if I use it weeks in a row which made me think this product could be doing that to my skin too, but it doesn’t. Luckily.

Aside from that I just feel like the quality of this product is amazing. You can feel that the formula isn’t just some random cheap ingredients thrown together. It’s a unique formula, it has things to it you’ve never felt before and I feel like there has gone a lot of thought into this product.

Overall I’m a big fan of the Embryolisse Hydra-Mat creme. It’s just as amazing as the Lait-Creme Concentre and maybe it’s even better. It has a really unique formula and it does everything you want a moisturiser to do. I am a huge, huge fan!

And that brings us to the end of this post. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know what you think of Embryolisse and if you’d prefer this version or the regular Lait-Creme Concentre!

XOXO, Nicole.

Ik ben erg fan van de ‘gewone’ crème, dus deze lijkt me ook erg fijn!
