A very, very long time ago I decided I wanted to try out some of the brushes from Ecotools. Ecotools is a brand I have heard a lot about in the past couple of years but I’m not that familiar with their products just yet. Therefore I decided to order three brushes and give them a try to see what the brushes from his brand are like and whether or not they are something for me. I ended up buying the Airbrush Concealer Brush and a set containing two dual-ended brushes called the Eye Enhancing Duo Set. Today I’m going to review all of these brushes for you guys, so if you’re interested in finding out what these Ecotools brushes are like, make sure you continue reading!
The Ecotools brushes all come in these plastic packagings with the paper wrap around them. According to the little label these packagings, the pouch, is eco-friendly. I don’t really know what that entails and how true it is, but well, I do appreciate the effort. Not all brands try to make their packagings and products as eco-friendly as possible, so good job at that Ecotools!
Overall I do like the look of the packagings. Even though the pouch thingy doesn’t necessarily have a very luxurious look to it, I can appreciate it. I think that the fact that these pouches don’t necessarily look luxurious to me isn’t a bad thing. Not everything has to look luxurious and this is a good look too. I do think that the design of the packaging really represents the brand very well. It gives a very natural, eco-friendly vibe to me so that’s definitely very positive. So, overall I like the packagings. Let’s move on to talking about the brushes themselves.
The first brush I want to discuss is the Ecotools Airbrush Concealer Brush. Not just the pouch is eco-friendly, the brush itself is also made with bamboo and recycled materials. The fact that they used bamboo for the brushes isn’t necessarily eco-friendly in my opinion. As far as I know there isn’t a ton of bamboo left for the panda bears so I don’t really know how great it is that they used bamboo for these handles, but well. Maybe they did get the bamboo in an eco-friendly way. Who knows? The fact that they used recycled materials for this brush is a very good thing. I do support that fully!
Having said that let’s talk about the shape of the brush and whatnot. The Airbrush Concealer Brush is shaped like a typical concealer buffer brush. It is slightly rounded and it is smaller on the top than it is on the bottom. The hairs are extremely soft and flexible so it doesn’t irritate the sensitive skin underneath your eyes or anywhere else on your face and because of the smaller tip you can easily buff the concealer you’ve applied in smaller areas as well. This brush really allows you to work very precisely. So if you’re a very precise person, I think this brush might be one you’ll really love!

Quality-wise I’m definitely not disappointed by this brush. I think that everything about it is very well made and nice and sturdy. It’s a brush that will last you for a good couple of years in terms of that. It also does its job perfectly but it’s also great for other purposes like doing thing on the eye, so using it as an eyeshadow brush, or anything else you can think of. It’s quite a basic shape thanks to which it’s not just a concealer brush.
Even though I do think it’s a great and multifunctional brush, it’s not one I gravitate towards a lot. I do already have a lot of brushes, especially a lot of eyeshadow brushes so I don’t use it for that purpose myself. And when it comes to blending my concealer, I just think it’s easier and prettier when done with my Beautyblender. I’m just not that into blending my concealer with a brush. I always feel like it takes away a lot of the coverage compared to when you blend it with your Beautyblender. However, all of these points are purely personal and don’t take anything away from the fact that this is a really nice high-quality brush!
So, in conclusion, I do think this Ecotools Airbrush Concealer Brush is a great product. It is well made, it looks pretty and it is multifunctional. However, I just don’t gravitate towards it a lot because I don’t like using brushes to blend my concealer and I have enough eyeshadow brushes purely made for eyeshadow purposes.
Moving on to the little set that I got as well. This is the Ecotools Eye Enhancing Duo Set. It come with two dual-ended brushes, so a total of four different brushes. The Ecotools brushes already are very affordable, but if you think of the fact that you get four brushes in this one little set, that’s just amazing. That means that you pay less than 2 Euro’s per brush. What an amazing deal!
All four brushes in this set are meant for eye-purposes. In other words, they’re great for eyeshadow. But before I’m going to jump in the details about what they are meant to do and what the quality is like in my opinion, I first want to mention something about the fact that these brushes are dual-ended. I know that it’s very convenient and if you don’t have much brushes this might be a great buy, but for me it’s not that ideal. I like to store my brushes upright and when you have dual-ended brushes like this, this could ruin one side of the brush because it’s standing on one side of the brush. It’s not a very big deal, but that is one of the reasons why I prefer non-dual-ended brushes.

Okay, now that is out of the way, let’s start talking about the brushes again. The first one comes with a blending brush on one side and a little smudge brush on the other side. Overall this isn’t my favourite brush in the world. The thing is, quality wise they are great, the hairs feel very soft and they don’t fall out after or during the washing process. They do their job perfectly, but I’m just not that impressed by them. They are quite basic. And I personally really prefer using my Zoeva brushes. They work just a little better for me.
But again, that doesn’t mean that these brushes are bad. Not at all. Especially the side with the blending brush is great. It’s one of the softest and most fluffy blending brushes I’ve used in years and that’s definitely impressive. It does a great job at blending or softly applying some colour into the crease.
The smudge side however isn’t my favourite. I really swear by my Zoeva Smudge Brush because that one has the right amount of stiffness in the hairs and that’s exactly what this brush misses. It’s just a little too soft and fluffy and therefore the hairs will bend too quickly when you’re trying to smudge some colour along the lower lash line. That isn’t the worst thing that could happen, but it is inconvenient and one of the reasons why I don’t use this side too often.
The other brush comes with two sides too. One side is an angled brush and the other side is more or a shader brush. The side with the shader brush is a big favourite of mine. I love how soft and fluffy it is. It does an amazing job at applying eyeshadow all over the lid. It isn’t too stiff so it doesn’t really have problems applying eyeshadow on top of a sticky base and it also just moves along the lid nicely. This does sound a little weird, but I really don’t know how else to describe it. Overall it’s just a great eyeshadow brush and I do really enjoy using it.
The side with the angled brush isn’t my favourite though. It’s too thick to apply eyeliner with and I just don’t like brushes like that for filling in my brows. It’s also a bit too soft and flexible for that. You can’t really get sharp lines with it. It might be better as a brush to apply eyeshadow with in precise areas, but I have different tools for that. So overall I don’t really know what to do with this side. Again, it’s not because of the quality, it’s just not my favourite shape of brush I guess.
All together I do think that these Ecotools brushes are very nice brushes. They are affordable for one which I think is a big plus, and the quality is very, very impressive. The hairs of these brushes are incredibly soft, they are silky and they don’t fall out while washing them. They also do a great job at what they are meant to do, but in my opinion these brushes aren’t the most exciting brushes ever. They don’t wow me, if that makes any sense. If you are on the hunt for some nice, eco-friendly brushes I think these are great, but if you already have a ton of makeup brushes, these won’t add much to your collection.
That was pretty much everything I wanted to mention about these brushes for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and be sure to let me know if you have any experience with Ecotools brushes!
