Last week I showed you guys which budget products disappointed me. Since it’s luxury week now I decided to do the same thing, but this time I’m going to show you luxury disappointments instead of budget ones. I do have to say that I don’t have a ton of luxury disappointments, since I don’t just go ahead and buy anything expensive without thinking about it, but I do have a few products that just didn’t live up to my expectations. If you’re interested in finding out which products I’m talking about, keep on reading!
Let’s start off with the Urban Decay Naked On The Run palette. Don’t get me wrong, I love this palette, I’m obsessed with it and I use it a lot. And most products that come in this palette are absolutely incredible. The Urban Decay 24/6 Glide On Pencil that comes in it actually became an all time favourite of mine, but there are a few things about this palette I don’t like as much.
The reason why I’m showing it today is because of the mascara. At first I loved it. I was completely obsessed with it and even considered buying a full size of it when I’d run out of this mini one. But now that I’ve used it more often, I realised it’s definitely not a mascara for me. I don’t like the wand too much and the mascara itself smudges like crazy. And since I’m not going for the panda look on a daily basis, it’s not a product for me.
Next up is the Benefit Life’s A Party Gift Set. This set is just like the Naked On The Run palette absolutely incredible, it comes with lots of products and most of those products are incredible. The only thing I don’t like about it too much is the eyeshadow.
The eyeshadows that come in here just don’t have that ‘wow’-factor, which I did expect them to have since this is a Benefit product. They’re definitely okay, but I just expected a little more of them. In my opinion the fact that these eyeshadows are just average doesn’t mean you shouldn’t buy it, the rest of the kit is great and you can definitely work with the shadows, but just don’t expect the shadows to be incredible.
The next disappointment is one I really didn’t expect. For years I’ve heard good things about the MAC Paint Pots and the one I tried in the shade Vintage Selection definitely lived up to the hype. So as a cream shadow lover I decided to get another one in one of the most popular shades: Bare Study.
Turns out, this one is not good at all! The texture is really strange and the application is just terrible. It doesn’t distribute evenly over the eyelid which ruins your entire eyeshadow look. Nope. If you’re on the hunt for a MAC Paint Pot, do so, but just don’t get this one. It’s just not good!
My last luxury disappointmens are these MAC eyeshadows. Back when I just started off with makeup all I wanted is to have a shit ton of MAC eyeshadows. I didn’t know much about makeup and MAC eyeshadows were very popular back then. I bought 5 of them and loved using them.
But now I know more about makeup and now I’ve tried much more luxury eyeshadows I realised that MAC eyeshadows just aren’t worth the extreme price. Of course, the shadows are pigmented, they have pretty shades and they are very easy to work with. But why pay 17 Euro’s for one single MAC eyeshadow while you can pay 50 Euro’s and have 12 gorgeous Urban Decay eyeshadows which are way better.
And that concludes today’s post. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know which luxury products disappointed you!
