About two months ago I decided I wanted to stock up on some mascara’s that I hadn’t tried out yet. I haven’t really tested out a lot of luxury mascara’s just yet but I was very interested in doing so, which is why I ended up buying a couple. The first one I decided to give a try is the Diorshow Iconic Waterproof Mascara. This seems to be a very loved and popular mascara in the beauty industry so I was very curious to see what all the fuzz was about. I’ve actually almost used it up already so I think it’s about time for me to review this little guy and let you guys know what I think of it. If you’re interested in reading everything there is to know about this gorgeous mascara, make sure you continue reading!
The Diorshow Iconic Waterproof Mascara comes in a gorgeous silver tube. The tube feels and looks very luxurious, and since it’s Dior I think that’s only fair. The tube does look dirty easily because you can tell when you’ve touched it with your dirty foundation-fingers, but in general I really like the look of it. My favourite part about it is the little rim around the top of the tube that says Dior all over it. I just think it looks fancy and also just really pretty. By the way, the tube is just straight and not outstandingly thick, however it’s not a slim tube either. But because it isn’t extremely or abnormally thick I do think it’s just a great size for on the go.
The Diorshow Iconic Waterproof Mascara comes in different versions. At least a waterproof and a non-waterproof version. I decided to go for the waterproof version because I wear contacts and more often than not my eyes get very watery. They are also quite sensitive so I have to deal with watery eyes a lot of the time. Waterproof mascara is just a must in my case. Aside from that I feel like waterproof mascara holds the curl way better and it just stays in place better in general. However, if you don’t like wearing waterproof mascara for whatever reason, I’m sure the non-waterproof version is just as great!

Before we start talking about the formula and the effects of this mascara, let’s first discuss the wand. Like all of my favourite mascara wands, this is one of those silicone bristles wands. I don’t know if that a term at all, but I’m sure most of you have some sort of an idea of what I’m trying to say here. For those who don’t understand, I mean not one of those hair-like wands, but more spikey ones. I prefer that because in my experience these kinds of wands give more volume and separate the lashes better, but that’s just personal preference of course.
The wand does have a lot of bristles which makes sure it separates even better than it otherwise would. I also feel like this wand does a great job at lengthening the lashes. I don’t know the science behind that, it’s just something I have experienced while using this mascara.
Overall I just think the wand works really well for my lashes. It separates them, it lengthens them and it adds a ton of volume to them without making them stick to each other or getting clumps of mascara in my lashes. I’m a big fan of this wand and it’s probably one of my favourite mascara wands so far!
Now we have discussed what the wand is like, I think it’s about time to start talking about the claims. According to Dior this caring waterproof formula is enriched with modelling ingredients that make the lashes fuller, it is supposed to stimulate grow and it adds a lifting effect. It claims that these are not just effect you notice while you’re wearing this mascara, it says that these are effects you will see on your clean lashes as well. In other words, it says that this mascara also affects the natural lashes themselves. It also says that the formula is inspired by hairspray: lifting and longlasting.
Overall it sounds like a really amazing mascara. I had no idea before I looked it up for this post that this mascara is actually caring too. I had no idea it’s supposed to make them grow and lift them. It does say that in order to achieve those results you do have to wear it everyday for 4 weeks straight and I’m not sure if I have done that. But in general I have noticed that my natural lashes are stronger and more visible, which probably means that they have grown or at least that they have become thicker.
For some strange reason Dior doesn’t really let us know what this mascara is supposed to do, what the effect will be like, when you’re actually wearing it. But I figure the effect will be similar to the effect on your natural lashes after those four weeks. In other words: I think it’s supposed to be lifting and lengthening.
Looking at the swatches I think that’s exactly what this mascara does for me. It really defines my lashes. It separates them, makes them look longer and also a lot fuller. It also lifts them and this lifting effect does stay all day long, which I find very impressive.
In general I’m a huge fan of the effects of this mascara. I do think that once you reach the end of the tube the full and voluminous effects do get a little less intense, but that happens with most mascara’s. When I took these lash-swatches the mascara was nearing the end of its life so do keep that in mind. But although on the picture the effect is a little less intense as it is when you just break in to a tube of this mascara, it still is a wow-ing effect and I really, really love the look of it. I think it’s a gorgeous mascara and I love its effect on my lashes.
My favourite thing about this mascara is that it stays in place incredibly well. This definitely isn’t a mascara that is going to smudge or move in any way at all. It’s pretty bullet proof in my opinion. It also stays intense all day long and it never loses it’s lifting effect. I’m really surprised by that.
Overall I think I have found a new love when it comes to mascara. This mascara is just absolutely incredible. I love how perfect the wand is for my lashes, it’s everything I ever look for in a mascara wand and more. I also really like the formula and the way it has a caring effect on my lashes. Lastly I like how my lashes look while I’m wearing this mascara and how this effect stays just as intense all day long. From dusk ’till dawn. I’m a huge fan of this mascara and therefore I do recommend giving it a try!
Thank you so much for readying today’s post and be sure to let me know what you think of this mascara and which mascara is your current favourite!
