As some of you might already know, Dior is my favourite brand on earth. I love their makeup products, I love the style of the brand and so far the makeup-artists from Dior that I’ve met are amazing as well. It’s just my favourite brand ever. My boyfriend knew this which is why he got me a Dior lipstick for my birthday. I did choose the colour myself, but he was there to pick it out with me. Anyway, I ended up getting the Dior Rouge Dior Lipstick in the shade 458 Paris, which I’ll be reviewing today. So, if you’re interested in finding out what I think of this gorgeous looking Dior lipstick and if I think it’s worth the hefty price tag, make sure you continue reading!
Let’s start off at the start: packaging. Like all Dior products this lipstick comes in a dark blue box and a dark blue tube. I love the shade of dark blue that Dior uses in their packagings. I think it looks absolutely stunning and I also think that it has a very luxurious feel to it, the colour. The shape of the lipstick is pretty basic. It’s a rectangular tube which is quite big and bulky, but for some reason I don’t mind that too much this time. Aside from the little silver rim on the packaging it doesn’t have much of a design to it. The only other thing on it is the CD logo on the lid.
In my opinion the simplicity of this packaging is what makes it look luxurious. They kept it very simple and classic for a reason. The colours they chose to work with make it look even more luxurious and the weight of the tube helps with that luxurious feeling as well. Overall this lipstick comes in a very pretty and luxurious looking packaging.

Before we start talking about the claims, let’s first go over the shade. I have to say that I was quite surprised about the shade when I first looked at the lipstick in normal lighting. In the store they have such bright, weird lighting that most of the lipsticks look absolutely hideous and you can’t really tell which lipsticks are natural and which are bright. After debating on which colour to get for ages I finally ended up buying one called 458 Paris.
The shade 458 Paris is a very pretty rosy pink colour. It’s quite a vibrant colour but it’s not a full on bright shade like a neon pink or a heavy orange colour. I would describe this as a wearable bright colour, which is a unique combination of words but it really is the best way to describe it.
The colour does have quite a warm undertone which, like most of the time with a warm toned lipstick, does make your teeth appear a tad bit more yellow than they actually are, but not in a way my teeth look so yellow I don’t dare to go out anymore while wearing this lipstick. It’s just a slight difference than no one will probably notice but you can probably tell yourself because you’re way more of a critic on yourself than anyone else is or could ever be.
Moving on to the claims. According to Dior their Rouge Dior lipsticks are lipsticks that make every women feel great, no matter which colour or finish she is using. The colour range of this lipstick collection is very wide, ranging from iconic reds to romantic rosy shades. Because of their iconic formula these lipsticks wear for up to 16 hours comfortably. They will create a feel-good feeling no matter which shade or finish you are wearing.
Aside from that I couldn’t find any more information regarding this lipstick so it’s not a lot, but this is all we have and we will just have to work with that.
So let’s start talking texture. All of my other Dior lipsticks have these very soft, creamy and buttery textures. They really glide on to the lips and wear so comfortably you almost want to wear them all day long. This lipstick however seems to have a bit of a different formula. It reminds me more of somewhat more older lipsticks from a few decades ago. It reminds me of the lipstick my grandma used to use. It also smells like that. I personally don’t like that smell that much, but that’s not what we’re talking about right now. Right now we’re talking texture. The texture of this lipstick is a little less smooth than the texture of the lipsticks from the Addict range, but it still is a smooth and creamy lipstick. It still glides onto the lips incredibly easily and I love the way it feels!
The pigmentation of this lipstick really surprised me. I don’t know why but I didn’t expect it to be this opaque and this bright. I actually, back when I bought this lipstick, thought that this shade was way more natural and soft than it actually is. So when I first applied this lipstick it was quite a big shocker for me to find out that this isn’t a very natural colour at all. It actually is a reasonably bright shade. Now that I know and I’m used to it I actually really like the colour and the brightness because it is a little different from what I usually wear and therefore I don’t have anything like this in my collection which is a very big plus for me.
The finish is really pretty as well. It does have some sort of sheen to it, but it isn’t a very shiny or glossy lipstick at all. It just has that healthy sheen to it but nothing more or less than that. I really like the way that looks. I think it looks stunning!
What did impressive me quite a lot is the staying power of this lipstick. I knew that Dior lipsticks were quite long lasting, but since I have never tried a Dior lipstick from this particular range I wasn’t sure whether or not this one was going to be as long lasting as some of the other Dior lipsticks I’ve tried in the past. Luckily it is, it’s actually even more long lasting than those. This lipstick doesn’t budge at all. It does transfer onto other objects or people, but it will still looking fabulous for at least 5 hours straight.
Overall I really, really love this Dior Rouge Dior Lipstick in 458 Paris. I first of all really love how luxurious the packaging looks and feels. Aside from that I think that the colour is very pretty. It’s quite different from what I expected it to be, but now that I’m used to it I do really like the look of it. The texture of the lipstick is really nice and so is the pigmentation. But the most impressive part is probably the staying power. This lipsticks does not budge at all!
That’s it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it and be sure to let me know what you think of this lipstick and the shade and also let me know if you have any experience with Dior lipsticks!
